I’ve debated leaving a review because we all had mixed feelings on our experience. The house and grounds were fine, but not what we were expecting and some stuff just bothered us. The house was much smaller than we expected and while there were technically enough beds, the space is cramped for a larger family/more than 2 couples. In my opinion, a loft should not count as its own bedroom when it must be passed through to get to an actual bedroom or to get from the bedroom to the bathroom. Additionally the loft is open to a dangerously steep and open-concept staircase. The older adults staying felt unsafe walking up and down the stairs and we refused to let our young child go up or down after nearly falling through/down the stairs. The downstairs bedroom has no insulation and is therefore very noisy. The hosts are very pleasant and accommodating, but the grounds is undergoing new housing development and we were woken up by 7 AM to dynamite explosions and heavy duty construction machinery working on a Monday morning. We recognize that this may be outside the hosts’ control, hence the hesitation in saying anything, but the “Innsbrook Resort” land still has a lot of area being developed and it just made things less enjoyable for us. With that said, other than the noise issues—both due to lack of insulation and from construction, unsafe staircase, and the fact that we avoided sitting outside because of wasps—they do have a beautiful and cozy enclosed sun room, the house was otherwise nice, clean, and as advertised. The driveway/walkway into the house and down to the lake front as others have mentioned are EXTREMELY steep, but we enjoyed taking walks through the neighborhood and it’s nice and conveniently located near some convenience type stores not too far away and towns (Warrenton/Wentzville) for larger stores if needed. If staying with a smaller crowd and perhaps if you’re up early anyway, consider staying, especially since the hosts are very friendly and a pleasure to work with.
