Jan and his team wouldn't have been more kind and helpful. We loved our time here. The villa is perfectly placed, close to the village and the sea, quiet and peaceful.
First time in Creta and we a come back with only great memories. The house was very clean when we arrived, beds were done and there were welcome gifts in the kitchen. Climatisation was really appreciated during the night. The swimming pool was perfect. It was not too deep (1m20 I would say) so that our 3 children could play safely (youngest was 8).
The house is located in a very quite area but the sea and the center of Almyrida is only 500m far. In Almyrida, you find everything you need (supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, plenty of nice restaurants, etc.) although it remains a small village, not too busy compared to other locations that we visited.
Finally, we had the chance to meet the landlord who advised us a very nice trip to Georgioupoli across the hills and give us some tips about tavernâs.
We can only recommend.
Lovely villa.
Disappointed with pool - liner dirty in places.
Downstairs bathroom stinky. No towel or linen change and expected to take rubbish to the village for disposal. All not what I would expect from a villa holiday.
Also no bin liners supplied.
Next doors tree removed while we were sunbathing around the pool causing multiple mosquito bites to everyone.
WiFi shocking
The villa is in a perfect location and a hire car is not necessary. A ten minute walk to a safe sandy beach lined with many local tavernas. The villa has its own pool and barbeque area with exceptional views to the mountains in the distance. Well appointed accessories including beach towels and a weekly change of bedding etc. A local taxi service is readily available for those who wish to visit further afield. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location. David.
We had a lovely week in this very clean, well - equipped villa that is really well located in easy and safe walking distance to local tavernas, the beach and supermarkets/ bakeries. Arrival instructions were really clear and on arrival we had a lovely Welcome hamper from Jan and the team which was much appreciated. The villa is spotlessly clean and really well-equipped and comfortable. The air conditioning was very effective and needed during the August heat. My only slight issue was the layout of the villa which meant that we couldnât see the pool from inside the villa which made it slightly less connected than it could have been. The living area is on the first floor, with the main bedroom on the ground floor and the twin bedroom downstairs. This was a slightly unusual layout that would possibly not suit younger children. It is also worth knowing that the pool is all one depth which is effectively shallow end. This was not a problem for us as it made playing catch with a ball really easy ⊠but beware of diving in. Overall, we had a great week. We met Jan the just a couple of times and he couldnât have been more helpful. We felt he really cared that we were having a good time. We also hired a boat from Antonis boats in Almyrida which was brand new, very reasonable and great fundâŠ. Thanks for a lovely holiday on Crete !!
The villa is amazing. Plenty of space and super clean. Everything is there that you would need for a home from home experience including all towels (beach ones too), even washing tabs and dishwasher tabs.
We went with our children 13 and 11- who loved the villa. The pool is a great size and plenty of seating/table options and umbrellas outside too. Outdoor shower was great. The welcome basket was lovely and helpful.
The area is beautiful. 5 mins walk to the beach and all the restaurants. There are a few bakeries and shops too for food. The taxi firm is brilliant. You can book face to face or by text. We used them for the airport transfers and a day trip to Chania (which we fully recommend). You do not need a car if you do not plan to go away from Almyrida each day.
The beach is wonderful, sandy at one end and pebbles down the other. The water is calm and shallow and eating directly by the sea at one of the many restaurants was lovely. The bakery on the front is super friendly and food was great.
Communication with the hosts was fab. Jan and the team will send updates including taxi information and recommendations to eat etc. Whenever we messaged we had responses quickly.
We loved it here and we are already wanting to rebook.
The Villa is in a great location, walking distance to the beaches and restaurants/bars etc. The pool is lovely and the Villa has all the amenities you require for a relaxing holiday.
The communication from Jan, Dimitra and Kaiti at the Almyrida Villas team was excellent throughout, everything was made easy.
Would return tomorrow.
We arrived very late after a delayed flight and it was easy to find the keys and enter this delightful property.
The waiting gift of food and wine was so much appreciated.
The pool was lovely especially with all the bougainvilleas flowering.
Almyrida beach and restaurants were a perfect distance away from the villa - not too near the hubbub of shops, hotels and restaurants but not so far for an easy stroll into the village.
We didnât meet the hosts, Jan & Dimitri, but via emails they were very helpful with many suggestions on places to visit, taxis and car hire.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at a this wonderful villa.
We had the most amazing holiday in Almyrida. Villa Iannis was beautiful and the restaurants served great food. We particularly liked Psaros and Francois. The villa was spotless, the pool was bigger than we anticipated and Jan was so kind, helpful and just very lovely. We will be back! The only issue for us was the layout. You canât see the pool from the villa and there were a lot of steps but our children are 11 and 14 so it was fine for us. Thank you Jan, Dimitra and the Almyrida team â€ïžđ
We had a wonderful few days in Villa Iannis. It was just as described, clean and well decorated. It was a short walk to the beach and restaurants. We loved every moment here and will definitely return in the future.
Thank you Jan and Dimitra and team for three amazing and wonderful weeks in Villa Iannis. Everything was perfect! We will never forget our first family journey to Kreta. The teenagers loved especially the pool and the modern house! It was also a very comfortable stay for all of us! The house and pool are 100% clean and the climatization helps you even through the warmest days. And if you just think "it is great here" - there will always be an additional surprise, an idea of the owner for the next trip or a gift of the host. Our younger daughter had her 16th birthday in Villa Iannis! Could not have been nicer. Almyrida offers good restaurants, a bakery, little supermarkets and a beach for every day. By car you reach lots of attractions in the area. Greetings from us to Jan and Dimitra with the whole team. We will stay in contact!
The house is perfect in all ways. It looks better in real life than the pictures. Everything you need is the villa, including washing machine. Decor was simple, practical and stylish. Spacious rooms and wonderfully functioning AC in all rooms. If you have very young children or have difficulty walking the stairs could be a problem, but not for us. The second bedroom is below ground which could be good to know, but there are windows. The pool was large, warm and so well kept. Pool keeper was there twice during our weekly stay. Lovely trees gave shade and the outdoor shower was an unexpected extra. Very nice communication with the super friendly owner. Location couldnt be better. Walking distance to bakery, small supermarket and the lovely beach with all cosy restaurants in Almyrida. Not to mention the splendid views over the olive trees and the mountains! We rented a car but wouldnt have needed to. Our children aged 9 and 13 said it was the best holiday ever and I can only agree.
We've just returned from a lovely holiday staying at Villa Iannis. I can not recommend it highly enough. Its situated 5 minutes flat walk from the main town with its beautiful sandy beach and restuarants. The supermarket and bakery are at the end of the road as is the bus stop which will take you to Chania ( well worth a visit).
If you have limited mobility you may struggle with the steps as the entrance level contains the bedroom and bathroom with further steps down to the second bedroom or steps up to the living room kitchen and dinning area. The villa is clean, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The pool is large with lots of seating and sunbathing areas. We loved the visits from the local sheep which graze right next to the villa. The welcome basket was a lovely gesture...we even got PG tips! The taxi office is also on the main street and after some help from Jan..Mary was waiting to pick us up from Chania airport and she also sorted our return. It cost âŹ45 per trip. Most of the restuarants do takeaway so on a rainy night we treated ourselves and took advantage of the smart TV with Netflix. I think they've thought of everything! Thank you!! We didn't want to leave.
Property is great, clean, tidy, stylish and welcoming. Easy walk to the beach with its restaurants and shops. Jan and the team were all great and I wouldn't hesitate to book again.
We have just returned from the most amazing holiday ever! It's difficult to know where to start. The Villa Iannis is just perfection. I was dubious when told that it was just a 5 minute gentle stroll to the beautiful seaside village of Almyrida, but this description couldn't have been more accurate. The selection of restaurants was brilliant, all selling fresh, tasty meals at more than reasonable prices and the service was second to none. We particularly recommend Francoise for lunch. Ice cold water and delicious fresh bread was places on the table when we arrived and the little bottle of Raki and selection of fresh fruits or small desserts after was most welcome. The villa itself couldn't have been better. The air conditioning was amazing, especially in the bedrooms, which enabled us all to have a great nights sleep. It was spotlessly clean and the pool was a little piece of paradise for lazing next to and enjoying a refreshing swim, or just floating about on the pool toys. The city of Chania is an air-conditioned bus ride away and the selection of shops and harbour there are wonderful. We have only just got home and we miss it already. Highly recommended.
.
We booked Villa Iannis for a week as our first holiday abroad in 3 years and following the death of my partner, post teen exams, Covid and everything else.
The pressure was high but I can honestly say we couldnât fault Villa Iannis. The team looking after the villa, Kaiti and the other lovely lady (who organised the butcher delivery for me) were amazing and so friendly. The villa was spotless and really tastefully done, with aircon, WiFi and Netflix (important for teen girls). The pool area is incredible, we felt so spoilt.
The other big bonus is that I often search so hard to find a villa with pool close to restaurants, shops and beach and often they arenât as close as described. However Villa Iannis literally is a short amble on flat ground. A car would be nice to get around and see other places and also the supermarkets donât stock fresh meat or fish so you have to go to the next village. However the Villa Iannis team straight away sorted out a delivery for us and everything else (plus restaurants) was very easy to come by in the village.
My very picky teenage daughters said they absolutely couldnât find a negative with Villa Iannis. Thank you so much to Jan and Dimitra and Kaiti and the team for a wonderful holiday. I left my favourite jumper but I will get it next time! đ
We had an amazing stay at Villa Iannis. The location was perfect and walking distance to the village for anything we needed. The air conditioning worked great, which was important as it was above 90 each day. I would definitely recommend this villa, and if a large group was visiting, could get the villa next door also. Would stay again. One thing, there were some ants on the counter in the kitchen and outside, but we purchased some Raid and that took care of it. Also recommend bug spray when out by the pool. Overall amazing stay.
Well after originally booking for June 2020, thanks to COVID we eventually managed to go in 2022 and we are so glad we decided to hang on. Villa Iannis, what can we say, beautiful villa in the most beautiful setting, just a short walk from village, shops and beach, you really donât need a car.
The villa itself is extremely well equipped, they have thought of everything. The pool is a very good size and well maintained. If you want a peaceful and relaxing stay you wonât be disappointed.
We had the pleasure of meeting the hosts, Jan and Dimitra, and their team while we were there and you couldnât wish to meet nicer people, they are so kind and accommodating.
We couldnât have wished for a better holiday and it was well worth the long wait.
Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality Jan and Dimitra you are wonderful.
Linda and Steve
It was so difficult to decide where to stay for our honeymoon; luckily we made the right choice with Villa iannis!
The villa is situated just a short walk from the beautiful beach and restaurants and shops, but is far enough away to feel peaceful and rural. It has beautiful olive groves surrounding, and views of the white mountains. Also the walk to town is flat which was a pleasant change as usually when I stay in Crete everything is on a hill and I suffer with arthritis so this was great for me!
As soon as you get to the private large gate you get a feeling of luxury - there is so much space for cars. The courtyard is tiled. There is a beautiful olive tree at the front which is lit by a green light in the evening itâs very picturesque, in fact the whole villa has pretty lights around it in the evening which creates a pleasant ambience especially for a late night drink by the pool which is also lit in the night.
AMAZING HOSTS! They even made the villa especially lovely with decorations for our honeymoon which was beautiful.
Jan was very helpful and brought me a weighing scales that I requested as I have been on a weight loss journey and wanted to make sure all the lovely Greek food was not making me backtrack!
The pool was wonderful. It is suitable for children. There were plenty of loungers, chairs and tables around the pool, and a brick barbecue which we didnât get to use unfortunately. There was some charcoal and lights left for use.
A special feature was the shower in the olive tree!
The WiFi was pretty good and we were able to watch films on Netflix.
The kitchen was fully equipped we had everything we needed. Kaiti the lady that manages the house was so kind enough to stock the fridge with Mythos and Water prior to our arrival as per our request.
The plastic plates were particularly useful for taking outside.
There are two lovely balconies, one off the bedroom and one from the living room. We had breakfast here which was really nice.
The bathtubs are extra spacious. There is also a huge power shower in the back of the bathroom. Bath towels (and pool towels) are provided.
The bed was super comfortable. There are plug sockets either side of the bed, which really is a must.
The decor of the house was beautiful. You can really see that the owners have thought about everything.
We were particularly happy for the thoughtful welcome basket which got us started here.
We started calling Villa Iannis âhomeâ.
See you next year
