Property was adjacent/connected to another home that had clearly had a fire and was boarded up. We came in late with our group of teenagers and they refused to stay in the property at first, urging that there had to be squatters in the abandoned/damaged boarded up home that was connected. Our place was pitch black and even the adults had concerns. However, it being really late, we went in and felt OK.Several minor issues in the home: blinds were damaged (a dog had chewed some of them), the fridge was leaking water inside, lightbulbs out, trash was overflowing at the curb (so there was no room for ours at the end of the stay). Looks like the property itself may also have sustained some damage after the incident next door and our place was not yet fully repaired. There were 10 of us. We had enough towels, place could use more coffee cups and glasses. Host was communicative and helpful. No issues there. Neighborhood was fine, space was great for a group and what we planned.I communicated to our host they apologized. I wish I knew the story behind whatever went on next door. I do think that info should be disclosed. Is it a safety issue? Understand why though. We would not have reserved if we knew about it. Sleeping arrangements had to change because there had been a switch of available beds between the time we booked and the time we arrived. That did make things more difficult for us since we were a group of 10. But, we made due and the girls had a great weekend.
