Today was our first #lksawaydays of 2020 #ukoutandabout We left Reading and headed out to the Wiltshire village of Avebury to have a walk around the Neolithic henge, visit the museum and have some lunch in the Red Lion. Its been over 20 years since the LKs last visited so were looking forward to re-visiting. There are no charges to walk amongst the stones which make up the largest megalithic stone circle in the world, but there are separate charges for the museum and the Avebury Manor. The main car park is £4 for the day but not very big considering the volume of visitors Avebury sees, so if you visit we would suggest outside peak months. The purpose of the the stone circle is unknown but its believed to be a ritual complex, the site is a sacred site to the contemporary Pagans and if you are lucky on your visit you may see Druidic rites taking place. Its a pleasant half day and if the weather is a little moody it can add to the visit too! #avebury #aveburystones #stones #stonecircle

« We booked for a weekday night and enjoyed a very quiet and peaceful stay. The staff were incredibly kind and made everything clear from the moment we arrived. Upon entering our room, we were instantly impressed by the clean, spacious, and beautifully presented accommodation. It featured a large bathroom, a big TV, a kettle, a fridge, and a very comfortable bed. We even had a stunning view from our large open window overlooking the front car park (a lovely car park!). Breakfast was included...

« Hôtel de passage se situant sur notre trajet (pour une nuit). Concept original avec cette chambre située dans la cour intérieure d'un pub-restaurant. Hôtel un peu vétuste (mais en travaux), à la limite de la propreté dans les communs mais bonne surprise avec une grande chambre refaite et meublée à neuf. Bonne literie et déco sympa. Petit parking intérieur et terrasse sympa. Petit déjeuner un peu gras, à l'image des odeurs émanant de la cuisine... Un bon rapport qualité pour une nuit. »

« Beautiful and very spacious apartment. Fully equipped kitchen. King bed and bunk beds in separate bedrooms. Bathroom has bath and separate shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. We had a lovely time and would come back. It’s convenient for the Cotswolds, Bath, Bristol and lovely countryside and villages nearby, and not far from the M4 - though it’s in a quiet little village. The pub itself is lovely too. »
