My wife & I had a lovely stay at this Bellagio home. It is pretty well centered - about 20 min walk to the tourist-y part of the city. The balcony is beautiful to enjoy a bottle of wine. It was spacious and we felt right at home!Pro Tip - we flew into Milan and hired a private driver from Transfeero. The drive itself was quick and easy, about an hour and a half, and it wasnât terribly expensive (100-150). The driver was able to drop us off right in front of the home. The alternative was to take the train to Varenna, followed by the ferry to Bellagio, and a 2km walk (with bags & incline) to the house. If youâre not renting a car, I would highly suggest this approach.
We chose this house with the hopes of feeling like a local. It did not let us down. Cute, Clean, Cozy and Complete. Low wood ceilings upstairs, incredible Lake and Mountain View from the main floor living room, and cool, ground level kitchen and outdoor dining with fireplace. A cobblestone path out front connects you to the small lakefront town of San Giovanni. Wonderful walk to 2 markets and Bellagio are easy and delightful. Giullia was quick to respond, accurate with details, and a delight to work with. Home includes 1 spiral staircase, connecting ground floor and 1st floor. A narrow staircase led you from the living room to the upstairs bathroom and 2 bedrooms. Sunrises were beautiful, and a delight to hear distant conversations from walkers or occasional neighbors which helped to feel at home. Would stay here again....Thank you Giullia!
Property turned out exactly as advertised. Very pleasant stay for my wife and I who wanted to be away from the crowds for a weekend and relax. We did a lot of walking to get around Bellagio and fortunately had good weather. Very comfortable place with mostly all the items you need to get by. Owner was great and very responsive to our needs.
The location is good. There is a bit of a walk with some elevation but it is only really problematic with luggage. We had our mother along so a ride to and from the terminal was necessary but it wouldnât have been needed otherwise. The home is very cute and definitely adds to the experience. It is comfortable and meets all the needs one would have. A great view, clean, comfortable and so on. There is little to deaden the noise and the home is fairly tight in certain places so make sure you're comfortable with everyone. It is three stories with narrow stairs so plan for that as well but overall great. The real key here is the hosts. We were greeted with a ride to the home from the terminal for the hosts father âpapaâ unrequested, he even gave us a quick tour of Bellagio. During the ride we asked about ways to get back to Varenna for our departure and he offered to take us back down to the terminal which was amazing. Likely the only way it would have happened as Taxi/Ubers are infrequent. However when he picked us up to leave, we had not check the ferry schedule as it had been running very frequently the previous days and we had plenty of time if we missed one. Unfortunately when we got to the terminal, the next ferry would have put us missing our train to Milan. We did not realize how infrequent the ferry ran on Sundays. We were a bit panicked, but Papa said no worries, and brought us to Lecco, a 30min drive so we could catch our train. It was incredibly kind!
First of all, this property is amazing - and exactly as shown. It's also in an amazing neighborhood. What others have stated is true: If you want to experience Lake Como from an actual neighborhood, look no further.
But the most wonderful thing about this property is the host, Giulia. She is a fabulous communicator with a warm and generous heart. We had an emergency situation during our stay and Giulia went above and beyond to make sure everything was ok.
You will not find a better, more authentic place - or a better host.
It had a lot of character. Great view and location. too bad that kitchen was not easy to access conveniently- a tiny tiny spiral staircase to go up and down from - borderline dangerous if you had a drink or were elderly. Bedroom has low angled ceilings - had to pay attention or you would bumped your head quite easily. Bathroom upstairs very small. Quaint little place - parking is difficult - it was off property
The home is just like the pictures. Old world accommodation with unique features. Large fully equipped kitchen (no oven) with dining table. Large open living room and two bedrooms on the third level (with A/C). Nice, small outdoor deck with view. Great spaces to âspread outâ. Note circular stairwell may not be easy to navigate for everyone.
Full service grocery just down the road. Great bread, fruit, cheese, meats, wine, desserts etc.
The area around the house is quiet. A little bit of a walk to town (particularly in the rain). Car is preferred.
Really very happy with our stay.
We enjoyed our stay in Guliaâs beautiful home. The rustic features are gorgeous. There is an outdoor dining table with outdoor fireplace which is beautiful. The kitchen appeared well stocked and Gulia left some snacks, water, and champagne for us which was much appreciated. The neighborhood is quiet and away from the busy tourist area but walkable (15-20 mins) if you want to be in the middle of the action. There was plenty of space for my husband and I and our 2 kids. They even had a few toys and coloring supplies for the kids which was nice. I wish we could have stayed longer.
This place was amazing. A rustic Italian villa in the hills with an amazing view of Lake Como. We enjoyed cooking breakfast in the beautiful kitchen and relaxing on the main level. It was a truly wonderful experience.
Loved our location - we were in walking distance to downtown Bellagio - which we loved! Julia was an amazing host and porch view from her villa was so so pretty!
The house is great. We have a family of 5 and everyone was comfortable. The view from the balcony was so pretty and the neighborhood was very picturesque. If you have never been to Bellagio there is some planning required for getting off the train and onto the ferry and then finding transportation to the house. Itâs not an easy walk with luggage. It is a great location though and great for exploring Bellagio once settled. Also we only had 3 towels for 5 people so make sure to request the correct number of towels. The owner was so friendly and quick to respond which made everything easy! We would definitely stay again.
We loved this property. We were looking for something authentic and this was definitely it. This apartment had lots of character and ambience. it was well equipped for cooking and living. We loved the spiral staircase and the bedroom on the upper level.
We also built a fire in the outdoor fireplace.
The grocery store up the street was fantastic along with the fact that it had fill your own bottle of red or white wine.
We spent a great time in this beautiful mansion in the hills of Bellagio. Giulia, our host, was extremely friendly and reacted promptly on any question we had. We had a marvelous welcome by Giulia including food and drinks. We habe been even supplied with home garden vergetables during our stay. Tne supermarket is less than 150 meters away as there is a cheese dairy. The neighbours are also very friendly.
This property is a bit off the beaten track for tourists, which was perfect for us. There's a full-service grocery nearby, a lake view, and a wonderful view of the far mountains, with the more touristed areas of Bellagio just a walk away. The host was very responsive when we had questions.
I cannot say enough good things about this property. It was so beautiful and quiet and really felt as if we were in another world. Itâs an easy 20 minute walk into town so perfect if you like staying a bit out of the tourist action and get more of the local flavor of a place. We even watched a local club soccer match during a walk home from dinner one evening. Giulia was great with communication. And the place even had an old record player with some great classical music. We made dinner one night and ate on the balcony looking over the neighborhood and the lake. So, the kitchen was stocked well enough for a solid pasta meal. The place was immaculately clean and the beds were comfortable. There were plenty of blankets if things got chilly. Would highly recommend visiting if youâre looking for a charming and authentic Italian experience in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Thank you, Giulia!
From the US we were looking for a romantic getaway that had the feel of an âOld Italyâ villa yet shopping close with excellent restaurants and vibrant shopping. At the villa it was like stepping back in time. Nestled in a community on a mountainside with cobbled stone paths and beautiful views. The covered terrace cozy. romantic and . excellent for cool nights with an outside fireplace/BBQ. We bought fresh cheese and meats at the grocery down the path and cooked over the fire (wood can be purchased at the market). Each day we had coffee on the balcony overlooking the lake and countryside. We went to Bellagio each day. One day we rented a boat. I highly recommend. It was $150 for 2 hours and you donât need a boat license. It was wonderful fun and allowed us to see many villas and take lots of pictures. We also took a dip in Lake Como. Shopping in Bellagio was optimal.
