Great place, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - needs better communication
We stayed at the property for our wedding recently and had 40 people in total attending the wedding, with 30 staying on site at both the chateau and gites. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the wedding was wonderful. The area is very pretty but pretty isolated. The chateau and gites are beautifully decorated and fully furnished. Victor, the caretaker, was very welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately, we were let down by a lack of communication with the hosts. Getting further information needed to book/organise things for the wedding turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. To the point where we were not hold that the 4th gite we had booked and organised accommodation for for 4 of our wedding guests was not built and we were told this as we got on the boat to come to France, 3 days before we were due to stay there. This was highly inconvenient and put a downer on the start of the holiday. Overall, we had a lovely stay but it could have been a lot less stressful in the build up.
We chose ChĂąteau de Moncieux as the venue for a big family holiday - for our children and grandchildren. We were not disappointed. We were fortunate to have good weather and the pool was the focus of all our activities. There was plenty of space in the house for everyone to lose themselves when they wanted to and the lounges were huge and comfortable as wee the bedrooms. Victor, the caretaker, was very friendly and helpful when needed. An excellent holiday venue
A very spacious property with comfortable beds, a good pool and lots of activities to do with both adults and kids.
We did encounter a few power cuts which, once we were told were the mains switch was, was easily rectified. In addition there were a couple of minor plumbing issues which were fixed within a matter of hours.
During heavy rain however there was a leak from the roof into one of the bathrooms. It appears that the lead flashing between the gutter and the roof has slipped which is allowing the ingress of rain water. Itâs possible this has been an ongoing issue which may have been the cause of a section of the stone roof facia/soffit breaking away. Being located over the main rear entrance it was fortunate no one was injured.
Overall I would recommend this property but suggest the issues highlighted be addressed. Please be aware the house is in a very rural location but that was the type of place we were looking for.
Maximale privacy. Rustige omgeving. Grote kamers. Goede uitvalbasis voor uitstapjes. Heerlijk om buiten te kunnen eten. Zwembad is ideaal, alleen jammer van het veel te hoge chloorgehalte in het water.
We were a group of 12 friends who stayed in the Chateau for 10 days. Everyone loved the space and beauty of the surroundings. We made good use of the fabulous heated pool, and enjoyed the peace and calm of rural France at itâs best. The chateau itself is a thing of beauty. It is well equipped with plenty of lounges for relaxation and has a large well equipped kitchen and loads of space for dining for all of us together. The surrounding countryside is also beautiful, and several of us took the opportunity to explore the roads on rented bicycles and discover villages and cafes further afield.
Some felt that the standard of cleaning could have been better and the wifi was disappointing because it was slow and unreliable. These minor negatives aside, this is a fabulous place to stay with friends, to make your own fun, to meet up and enjoy the ambiance of the beautiful countryside of France, and just totally unwind.
Some of us wanted to stay longer, and would definitely stay here again.
Lovely property in large open grounds, with lots of things for the kids, great pool, badminton, football nets, boule, climbing frame.
Nice seating areas on the large patio with lots of space, facing the sun in the afternoon and evening.
Bedrooms nice and spacious. Kitchen is a good size and well equipped.
We had a super holiday.
