Buckland escape
Lovely hosts, great communication. Welcomed on arrival to this stunning property. Lovely cottage and we enjoyed a bbq on our verandah each night. We were visited by horses and snd emu over the fence. The cottage itself cosy and comfy. Location close to Northam very convenient. Just go its lovely.

Amazing location and everything you need provided.Dog friendly but there is animals on sight that your fur babies might get to. Take care with that.

Charming and historic
Such a pretty cottage and property! It was a bit like stepping back in time for a short while. The Dempsey was ready on arrival and we met the caretaker. It was quite comfortable but the charm and aesthetics made up for a few small inconveniences. It was a lovely place to relax, take photos and enjoy the countryside. We loved our stay and hope to return one day.

Weekend Getaway
My husband and I had an enjoyable weekend staying in Dempster Cottage. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything you need for a weekend stay. Buckland Estate is central to surrounding towns and wildflower walks.

Rural retreat peaceful and tranquil
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent two night stay at Dempster's Cottage at the Buckland estate. Charming stone cottage with the basic comforts that you need. Ideally situated in the country between Northam and Toodyay there's lots to explore.Russell,our host, his family and everyone we met were so welcoming. Lots of walks to explore, great for our dog to enjoy the space. When the warm summer day was too much a refreshing swim at the pool was welcome. We appreciated the tour of the magnificent property and if you were planning a major function it's a great venue. Really different and enjoyable experience

Lovely setting

My daughter and her newly minted husband stayed at Dempster Cottage following their wedding. The welcome was incredibly warm and made them feel very special, including some lovely photos on the property. They were glowing in their reports of the cottage and the hosts.

This property is special
Just the drive in from the road transports you back in time the moment you see the main homestead. If you like Australian history then it’s for you. If you just want a quiet getaway then it’s perfect. Dempster cottage is colonial on the outside, but modern and comfortable inside. We loved it so much that we are planning a return already.

Peace and simplicity in a very grand location
Delightful well equipped stone cottage on a historic farming property. So peaceful an environment with a lovely farm feel and panoramic vista’s. Welcoming and informative farm manager without compromising our privacy. A very central position from which to explore local towns or equally to just relax. To be able to take our dogs was such a generous gesture. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Exactly what I needed
I needed a complete break away from city life and that’s exactly what I got. My cottage was pure perfection with the most beautiful outlook across the dam and onto the hills. The views were stunning, and the resident horses in the adjoining field were so relaxing to watch. The whole property was wonderful and it was a pleasure to be guided around the main residence by my amazing hosts Russell and Nani, where I learnt some history of the property. They were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. I enjoyed exploring the grounds and hiking as much as my dog did, it made relaxing on the verandah late afternoon with a glass of red watching the sunset all the more pleasurable. I will definitely come again .

Relaxing stay in a unique location.
Spent the weekend here in Dempster cottage, an amazing location full of history surrounded by quiet and relaxing farmland. The best part was just sitting outside the cottage with a glass of wine, watching the birds and soaking in the atmosphere. The owners were very welcoming and happy to show us around the estate - we'll be back very soon.

Relaxing country escape
Really enjoyed our weekend escape. A beautiful property full of history. Enjoyed beautiful walks amongst flowering gums, feeding the horses, and watching the sunset with a glass of wine and a little outdoor fire to keep us cosy! Tranquil and beautiful
Outstanding place to visit. Accommodation in Dempster Cottage was beautiful and full of character. Everything except meals was provided and made the stay an absolute pleasure. Little things like milk, tea, coffee, vegemite, peanut paste, honey etc were not expected but were there along with some fresh eggs. I will wholeheartedly recommend this as a destination for family and friends looking for a great break. Our dogs were welcome and had a ball running everywhere and exploring everything. We were a little sad to leave as it was so relaxing and seeing the dogs so happy just added a whole extra dimension. Thanks must go to the owners and caretakers as the cottage was so clean and well maintained we felt honoured in a way to have been allowed to stay there.

Lovely cottage in peaceful surrounds
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Dempster cottage. It is a beautiful stone building set amongst peaceful paddocks, with views of the beautiful residence next door. The nearby dam hosts lots of birds of different varieties and you get a glorious spread of starts in the night sky. The cottage was comfortable and had everything I needed and I had a wonderfully relaxing bath to wind down before bed. In the morning I sat on the verandah eating breakfast and watching the birds and horses and gazing out on the hills. The host was a great guy and his partner was very welcoming too. I can't wait to go back.!

Heritage country escape!
From arrival and driving up into the property I sensed myself relaxing straight away, growing up in the country in NSW it felt like coming home; the lake below the main house, gum trees and bird life in abundance. Russell was away at the time however Paul, Nell and Adele made us feel very welcome, providing a tour of the house with stories of the past grandeur and family tales. Our visit coincided with an extremely hot few days so the pool was a welcome relief. Each afternoon wine and cheese on the verandah whilst watching and explaining all the various bird life to my overseas visitor. Dempsy cottage was all I had hoped for, heritage built; renovated to comfort and ease of stay guaranteed with all needed amenties in the kitchen/bathroom. Farm fresh eggs from the resident chooks were a pleasant and enjoyable surprise. The location of Buckland Estate is perfect as a base to explore Northam, Toodyay and surrounds. Navigating the country roads was easily done with one look at a map or if needed Google maps. If you are looking for a country weekend getaway reasonably close to Perth or a stunning wedding venue Buckland Estate will not dissappoint. Highly recommended. I will return Russell, thank you.

Stunning location peaceful retreat with location a plus. The owner was amazing very kind with great advice on all the local attractions. Loved the horses such character,reminded me of farm life. Beautiful Countryside Getaway!
Had an amazing stay at dempsters cottage on the Buckland estate. So convenient to be able to take our dog, Winston, who absolutely loved it! Dempster cottage, Buckland
We had a great over night stay at Dempster Cottage. The cottage, homestead and surrounds are picturesque and would make a perfect wedding location. Very clean and tidy, the property has been restored amazingly and has great historic charm. The cottage has plenty of space and all the amenities you could require. Russell is a great host and was happy to accommodate our very late check in and early morning check out times. He is very friendly, happily giving us a tour of the main homestead and even turning on the heater prior to our arrival on a cold evening. Thanks Russell! Perfect spot to stay for a romantic weekend or before a hot air balloon experience in nearby Northam! Highly recommended.

Overnight stay
A fantastic getaway to the countryside for both history and views. Me, my partner and dog had a great time away from the city where you can enjoy some of the finer things in life. Russell was very accommodating and gave us a tour around the place. Would definitely recommend!
