Wonderful place for our holidays
We spent a fantastic vacation at this lovely cottage. Even before we started our journey from Germany, communication was very kind and helpful. On arrival the welcome was very warm and nice. We found everything we needed in the cottage and the sight in front of it was great and peaceful. Our son (and we) loved the horses, sheeps and other animals around the farm. A great place to calm down and find some rest, but also perfect for trips in all directions. We hope to come back soon! Thank you for everything!!! Michael & family

The perfect retreat
The cottage is cosy, comfortable and easy to live in. The location is beautiful and secluded with a lovely little village only a few minutes drive away. Plenty of things to do within a few miles drive and lots of walking. Jo, the host, is welcoming and very helpful. We were 3 friends catching up and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay although the weather was very windy and we had rain and snow showers so couldn’t make the most of the outdoor space. We would definitely recommend the cottage and the area and we hope to go back again for more fun times.

Peaceful long weekend away
We've been here before and enjoyed it so much we have returned and we're about to make our next booking. It is so peaceful here, the views are lovely (even with the fog!) The cottage is warm, cosy and comfortable. There is everything we needed and many things we didn't think about but appreciated having such as washing powder to use after our muddy walks. We'd definitely recommend Lud's Church as a walk, but get there early as the carpark is small and it is VERY popular. A big bonus for us is that it is dog and child friendly with and ENCLOSED garden and a lovely pond walk straight out the front door.

Great place to get away from it all
We set out to have a relaxing/restful week, which we achieved. The weather meant that staying in for some of the time was the best option and the cottage was comfortable. A car is a must here as the nearest village shop is a few miles away by busy road with no footpaths. With this in mind, a small piece of feedback would be to provide some provisions including bread with the welcome pack. Jo and Colin were great hosts and we would recommend a stay here. (Good news for owners of electric cars - they are having a charging point installed soon - so there will be no need to worry about where to charge after a long journey to get there).

Curlew cottage
Lovely well equipped cottage, cosy and comfortable. The weather was slightly unkind to us but we had an active holiday lots of walking and even a bike ride. We did manage to sit outside on a couple evenings to enjoy the wonderful view. We will return !

Oh, the tranquillity
We stayed in the Curlew cottage. A very comfortable, beautiful home from home. We looked forward to our morning brews, outdoors with stunning views and late summer warmth. The cottage was well catered to cook there if preferred. Quiet location but close to local amenities at Leek and Buxton. There's plenty to do and see - we'll be back to finish our list of places to see and walks to tread. One week was just not enough!

Very clean and comfortable cottage in peaceful location with beautiful views. The photos on the listing do not do the cottage justice! Jo was a lovely host, friendly but not overbearing. Our 2 year old loved watching the horses, sheep and chickens. We will definitely be back.

We had a lovely time staying in the cottage. Jo was very friendly and welcoming, but allowed us space to spend time independently too. It was a thoughtful touch to leave us milk, wine & biscuits, and the cottage was very well appointed. We enjoyed getting to know the 3 sheep and local area too!

Awesome in great weather.
Very good value, with good fixtures and fittings. Almost no WiFi or TV. DVD worked a treat. Warm property even though it was 0°C outside.

Hi Mark, thanks for your review, we do have WiFi and a good TV signal, but the mast was down when you were here, I wished you had asked rather than leave this on the review.

This place is in the middle of nowhere which was just what we wanted! Really cosy and well equipped house. Bed was really comfy. My only negative would be that the sofa wasn’t the comfiest but that’s a small complaint next to all the positives. Would definitely stay here again. Great location for exploring the Peak District.

Great location for hikers!
The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped. It has a very peaceful ambience. Jo and family made us feel at home immediately. We used the app. ‘Alltrails’. to find several beautiful hikes starting nearby. We shall miss seeing the sun go down over the countryside. Hope to come back!

Comfortable cottage with spectacular views
The cottage is situated high up on the moor above Longnor on an equine farm. The owner is friendly and helpful and the cottage is well appointed and comfortable. It is a good base for walking and visiting local towns such as Buxton and Bakewell.

The property had all that could be needed, was very well maintained. Conveniently located for exploring the Peak District. Only drawback was that the windows were rather high an you could not see the view when sitting in the lounge. In warmer weather you could of course sit outside and admire.

We had a lovely 3 day break here at this cosy little cottage (despite storms Eunice and Franklin passing straight over us). The cottage is well equipped, warm and well situated for lots of lovely walks or to see Bakewell, Buxton and Chatsworth House. Our hosts were very welcoming and we will definitely be booking again sometime soon.

Birthday treat for my husband and his brother
This was booked as a birthday present for my husband and his brother as an opportunity to catch up. They arrived in awful weather, however the cottage was cosy and welcoming. They especially enjoyed the underfloor heating. The cottage was very well equipped, clean and nicely done. Very comfy beds (especially the mattress in master bedroom) and nice hot showers. Scenery beautiful, just a shame no real walks as farmland. All in all would highly recommend and we hope to use this again

Loved the cottage, on arrival, the cottage was lovely and hot, the fridge was filled with essentials and of course the lovely bottle of wine. I felt immediately at home. Both Jo and Clive and their lovely daughter were amazing. We hit the bad weather and they worked tirelessly to make sure that we got home safely. Fantastic hosts and tremendous "people skill" . Fantastic long weekend for my dads 60th
We booked both cottages as we were taking 3 dogs who also really enjoyed the stay. The location is great as there’s a nearby (5 mins) village (Longnor) with a brilliant chip shop and general store etc. The views are amazing over the countryside and the cottages themselves are everything you need. The underfloor heating is great however we did struggle with the temperatures inside as we had no control over it. We found ourselves opening windows downstairs and feeling cold upstairs. Overall the hosts are great, the cottages are fantastic and well kept with all amenities, even tea, coffee and milk in the fridge. The complementary bottles of wines and biscuits were a nice touch as well as the dog towel in the utility closet. We will definitely be returning.
