This is probably a relatively new rental property.
Overall the location is great, close to Perkin's Cove and Ogunquit beach, near to a pretty rock cove where we swam in full wetsuits. The house is large and has lots of nice features and lots of closet space. At present the few items that make this less than a 5 star rating can be fixed:
1) The master bedroom windows face due east, and hence the summer sun shines right into your eyes VERY bright between 4 and 5 am. Would be nice to have dark curtains to ameliorate the awakening. Until then, bring really good eye shields.
2) The demands on the renter are too great for the high price of the rental. Not providing linens meant a lot of pre-arrival arrangements, not enough towels, and everyone having to make their beds, unmake their beds, and be sure that the appropriate linens were re-sorted to the laundry. While the service was efficient - the demands were too high.
3) The couches, and chairs in the living room seating areas were all too soft and rather uncomfortable. The basement chairs were better, but too heavy to bring upstairs.
4) There are no tables that are suitable for group eating outdoors. It sure would be lovely to have that option. Small folding collapsible tables are provided, but it would be nice to have a way to set up a dining situation outside.
5) The cliff is treacherous and you are warned not to walk along it, however, a bit more trimming of the trail would make it possible to enjoy the view (which is not visible from the house, except in the master bedroom due to the surrounding trees). Trimming back a deep V in the canopy of trees would greatly enhance the view and ambience.
6) The grill was collapsing and needs replacement.
7) The upper deck needs some form of shade -- it is the largest outdoor seating, and also the only place for a view.
8) Only a few cooking supplies (tea, coffee, salt, pepper, paprika, onion salt, and olive oil). No medium sauce pans. Limited paper products; many plastic lids few bottoms.
9) The refrigerator needs replacement or repair. It is loud and one shelf is broken. If replaced, suggest design without the flap that can accidentally keep the door open.
10) The washer-dryer are good -- odd, however, that guests must sort and wash towels that belong to the owners separately from those that are delivered at pretty high cost from the linen company.
All in all, this could be made into a splendid location.
