We enjoyed our stay in this cosy ,well equipped and peaceful cottage in the Cotswolds.The cottage is in a great location for walks,visiting Winchcombe,Sudeley castle and the local preserved railway.We would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing and peaceful holiday.

Chestnut cottage stay May 2025

We stayed at Chesnut cottage in May 2025 for three nights. We found the property and location perfect. It was on the outskirts of Winchcombe with an easy 15 minutes stroll to the village. The Cotswolds way is nearby and plenty of walks from the cottage.

Great stay and location while exploring the Cotswolds

Lovely cottage that has everything you need. Comfy bed, fantastic shower and bath. The secure outside space and the field for the dogs was great! Would highly recommend! Only negative was the sofas weren't very comfy.

The perfect retreat!

Chestnut Cottage was perfect in every way! We loved our stay and everything about it exceeded our expectations! It is lovely to have luxury dog friendly accommodation. With walks straight from the cottage, we hardly used our car for the whole week. We will definitely book with Bolthole Retreats again and recommend to friends and family.

A fabulous break

Met up with my friend for a week at Chesnut Cottage and we absolutely loved it. The house is very spacious and very well presented and had everything we needed. The location is fabulous - so quiet but equally so close to everything. The whole experience from booking to leaving at the end of the holiday was smooth and issue free. We will definitely be returning!

The accommodation was in very good order, spacious and well appointed. As walkers the property was well located about 1 mile from the centre of Winchcombe. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to friends .

We loved Chestnut Cottage. We had a lovely 4 nights. The property is beautifully decorated, homely and in a great location. Great walks and a good field for our dog. We would definitely recommend and would really love to return. We can’t fault anything!

Chestnut Cottage - Winchcombe

The property is absolutely gorgeous (and I'm fussy). All finished to a high spec. The bed was super comfortable with luxurious bedding. The grounds and setting was so relaxing. Winchcombe is a gem - absolutely delightful. I loved it all and will return.

Wonderful stay at Chestnut Cottage

We had an excellent long weekend stay at Chestnut Cottage. The property was lovely, with no expense spared on the interior and the amenities there. The location was also great, and within easy reach of nearby places such as Winchcombe and Cheltenham. The hosts were also available when needed, with help given straight away when struggling with the entry code. Would definitely recommend.

A lovely cottage to stay in for a weekend or longer and in a great location

We were two couples staying here for a long weekend and the property is perfect for this with ample parking for two cars. It is in a quiet rural setting but with easy access to nearby towns and places to visit. The condition of the whole cottage and its contents was perfect and extremely clean. The beds are comfortable and in spacious rooms. The bathroom is also very spacious and the facilities excellent The kitchen has all the appliances that are needed and the bottle of bubbly in the fridge was much appreciated. One suggestion would be to have a few more plates and some serving dishes - we had to wash bowls half way through our meal.

Peaceful Retreat

Generally all round very accommodating. Lovely farm eggs, good parking. Lovely peaceful atmosphere. Only complaint is you need to update your TV software, Lots of channels weren't on the TV. It didn't spoil the holiday.

Fantastic week

A truly amazing week!! The cottage was delightful, extremely well furnished and equipped, beds amazedly comfortable and a stunning location. The owners were so helpful as was the gardener. Was sorry to leave but will be back at some point. Sue for Sussex and Bev from Canada.

Overall Fantastic Cottage

Location - Great High end kitchen items Beds - comfy Cleanliness - Fantastic Wifi - poor (router was down the hallway other end if the living room and kept loosing connection for the advertised Smart TV. Sofa - needs to be a high back ideally Would recommended and would book again.

Lovely weekend, gorgeous cottage

Chestnut cottage was absolutely delightful. Was of a very high standard and very well equipped. We had booked for a long weekend to attend the Fantasy Forest Festival at Sudely Castle. The location of the cottage was excellent and very private. The cleanliness was first class. The kitchen was very well equipped. The bathroom was superb and made me have "bathroom envy". The furnishing were of top quality and the owners had put a lot of effort into even the smallest of details to make the cottage feel luxurious as well as cosy and welcoming. I would definitely stay at Chestnut Cottage again and would highly recommend.

Beautiful stay

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. The only thing that could be improved is signage. We went down the wrong turning as we followed the satnav and it added about an hour on our drive! As it was all back roads, cows and sheep! No signage. If there was a sign at the entrance of the road it would have saved a lot of stress. The cottage is great, warm and cosy. Beautiful surroundings. The bathroom is amazing with underfloor heating. To eat you need to drive. So I wouldn't recommend it if you were hoping to travel there by train unless you didn't mind taxis to supermarkets or pubs, ect. We would stay again.
