Our family traveled to Chico to celebrate the holiday season. The hosts put a wreath on the front door and a vintage tree in the living room as an extra touch. The home was very roomy and comfortable for our party of six. The hot tub was glorious ….. under the giant redwood trees. Quiet, peaceful and restorative vacation. The beds, pillows and linens were all very comfortable too (which rarely is the case). Will definitely be staying at this beautiful home again in the future.

House is extremely dated not at all luxury and it is located in a questionable neighborhood, my son who lives in Chico and is a police officer was concerned that we rented a home in that area as it is known for criminal activity. The pool was cold, hot tub were both dirty and unusable. The home had cameras on the back side in areas where a guest would expect privacy, specifically on the back side of the garage facing the hot tub and pool area. The oven poured smoke out of it when turned on to preheat and the smoke detector in the kitchen failed to go off even though the entire area was full of smoke due to an excessive amount of old food and spills in the bottom, the pots and pans are in extremely poor condition with teflon peeling and chipping off, the few stainless ones had old food and charred debris left on then. The kitchen drawers cabinets are full of old food crumbs and dirt the kitchen is in desperate need of a deep clean. The carpets and area rugs smell musty and there is a faint smell of urin they could use a steam cleaning as they are dirty and some of the areas appear to have pet stains The few bath towels that were left for us to use had holes and stains, which after check out I was accused of stealing, and then charged for. I have never been accused of anything like this in my life and all my previous experiences as a VRBO guest I have been given 5 star reviews. It is extremely hard to believe that this home has not received poor reviews in the past.

Great time in Chico.

One of the best times of my life!!!!! My family made the trip up from the Bay Area to see Chico as my partner did back in her college day's. We got lucky when we found this amazing house. Thank you guys for such an amazing place and great time. We will definitely be back and will pass this location on to our family and friends.

Laurie was always available to chat before, during, and after our stay. I enjoyed the history of the house. When we went for a walk down in the beautiful neighborhood one of the neighbors told us all about Dotty.

Beautiful setting

Good location and we enjoyed our daily morning walks around the neighborhood. Our favorite aspect of our stay was lounging in the backyard looking at the glorious redwood trees while listening to the waterfall! (And fun frogs croaking at night) The views from the comfortable upstairs suite were a bonus!

Retro reunion

Definitely a retro feel in an older neighborhood but a well built, well loved house. It was very comfortable and well equipped. Loved the landscaping and the hot tub. Would have loved the pool but it was too cold to get in. Would definitely stay there again.

Girls get-away

My friends and I had a lovely weekend at this property. It was comfortable and checked all of our boxes! It would have been nice to increase the heat on the hot tub but it was locked and we were unable to bypass. We understood it was set at 98 for the summer but the evening was chilly so we were a little disappointed. Nonetheless, this did not effect our rating of the property.

Relaxing Home

This house had all we needed to enjoy some family time. The fenced in yard is huge, the pool was delightful in the hot weather, the hot tub is big and access is easy to everything. The beds were extremely comfortable, the place was clean and the garage space is an added feature for older kids to hang out or family entertainment The location was perfect close enough to Safeway, but still out in the country feel The big u shaped leather couch held all of us and we enjoyed access to several movies and shows We BBQed or went out not using too much of the kitchen appliances, but everything we did use was good. Totally enjoyed and relaxed at this home

Another Great Stay at Dot's House

We had a great time during our second stay at Dot's house. The house is clean, well maintained, has a great backyard and is in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood. Laurie is super responsive to any questions or issues that come up -- you can tell that she and her family care about the property and want everyone to have a great time there. My family is looking forward to another stay at Dot's house next summer!

We had such a great stay at Dot’s house!! This house is even better than the pictures online!! So many small touches that bring comfort, rest, and joy. They literally thought of everything. Super comfy beds, awesome cozy ambience and space to hang out and visit. The area is beautiful as is every view—even from the upstairs shower! Amazing. If I ever need to stay in Chico again, I will book here again.

Nice house, but pool was gross

The house was really nice but the pool was in terrible shape and the listing showed that the house slept 11 but it only slept 9. The pool was so disgusting you could barely see the bottom of it and we spent three days cleaning and treating the pool as we had two certified pool cleaners on this trip. By our second to last day there the pool was crystal clear and looked like it should. The pool light was also out so that hindered Night Swimming. A pool repair guy showed up on Friday (we got there on Wednesday) and said that he had a pool light and could replace it but only if one of us would help him. We said okay because we wanted to be able to use the pool at night. He was there for about an hour and then ended up saying that he couldn't fix the pool and he would be back the next morning and then never showed back up. The towels in the home were super limited and we had to do laundry every day. We had eight people and they only supplied us with five pool towels and seven bath towels. I had to call the property manager and have her come get us some more towels out. The listing says the house sleeps 11 but there are only two queens, one king, a pull-out bed and a cot out in the middle of the hallway outside the master bedroom door. Luckily we only had eight people but I asked about where the other pull out couch was and they said oh there's just a air mattress in the cubby hole. I feel like we should get a discount for working on their pool all week. Even the pm was amazed and

An amazing treat

This property was amazing for our whole family. We had 11 people aging from 6 to 80. This place had something for everyone. If your looking for a realxing time with friemds or famil i highly suggest it. The pool was great, and rhe hot tub was amazing. The beds wete like sleeping on a cloud. So comfy. We will definitely be back again. Great communication with the poeperty manager.

Perfect stay

Dot's has so much character, we loved it! Just sad it's already booked for graduation at Chico State or we would booked again. Sarah was great and so nice of her to meet us at the property and get everything going and questions. My family was so happy with the great find as well. A fantastic family home!

Great Chico Property -- Highly Recommended!

My family had a wonderful time staying at Dot's house in August 2023. The house was clean and spacious, and the outdoor space is fantastic (pool, lounges, indoor-outdoor game room, etc.). It's on a very quiet street but also not far from downtown Chico and places like Safeway and Walgreens. We recommend it without reservation -- we're looking forward to staying there again during our next trip to Chico!

Alumni gathering

this rental & it's location was ideal for our alumni gathering. communication between laurie/sarah was prompt & helpful. the description of the rental (as well as the comments in the reviews) are accurate & not overstated. i think it would be helpful to note that the room w/the player piano/sofa bed actually has doors (although it is in the common space, you can close yourself off to the rest of the house). our alumni gathering was a huge success-a good time was had by all-good company, nice ambiance (w/the exception of the very loud croaking frogs in the backyard in the evening), enough seating & backyard games.

Perfect place to stay with family

Our family had a great time swimming, relaxing in the hot tub under the redwood trees, playing cornhole, grilling, and enjoying the beautiful property. This home is located in a nice neighborhood and is close to a store. The bedding was comfortable and the home was stocked with everything we needed. Thank you for a great place to stay.

Chico stay

Property was beautiful. Pool was awesome after we cleaned some minor tree pollen from surface. Kids really spent most of the stay in the hot tub. Sara our property manager was especially attentive to any of our needs/requests. Would recommend this venue and in fact my daughter has reserved this place for next week. Only thing I would recommend to owner’s is to have a larger trash bin
