An excellent hotel in colonial style with atmosphere, cosiness, friendly and courteous staff in every area. From the porter who has been welcoming visitors to the hotel for 58 years, the hotel reception, service staff, room staff, bar and restaurant staff. Every morning we were able to enjoy the wonderful breakfast buffet in the fresh air with a friendly and motivated team who read our wishes from our eyes. We stayed in this best city hotel in Sri Lanka for over 1 month and can highly recommend it. Andy & Ranmalie

Ein super Aufenthalt in einem Klassiker von Colombo. Das Gulface Hotel hat Tradition und man ist in die Kolonialzeit zurückversetzt.

Schönes altes Kolonialhaus. Wie überall in Sri Lanka sehr nettes (wenn auch langsames) Personal. Die Aufzugmusik überall sowie die lauten Bauarbeiten auf der Terrasse (speziell während des Frühstücks) nerven allerdings sehr.

Als Neuankömmling geht ein Bediensteter mit und zeigt das Zimmer. Gibt aber keine weiteren Informationen wie zB Klimaanlage bedienen oä. Steht so lange im Zimmer bis er sein Trinkgeld hat. Nicht sehr freundlicher Empfang von einer schlecht ausgebildeten jungen Dame.

all was good, except service at one of the restaurants as I was treated differently as a solo traveler (table outside where they normally only offer drinks instead of one of the dining tables, not very attentive/friendly etc. Choose room in the newer part of hotel. Breakfast buffet was great!

Tolle Unterkunft im kolonialstil, sehr leckeres Frühstück, freundliches Personal. Der Check in hat länger gedauert, da viele Leute vor uns waren, allerdings wurde die Wartezeit mit einer Limonade verkürzt. In Nacht nr. 2 wurden wir um 1h geweckt, da angeblich der Rauchmelder unseres Zimmers Alarm gebe. Toller Ausblick am Meer. Unbedingt im cinnamon hotel Abendessen gehen.

Außergewöhnlich
Das Hotel liegt ziemlich einzigartig in Colombo direkt am Wasser, ohne dass die Bahnlinie oder eine Straße dazwischen verläuft. Zur Begrüßung gab es zunächst ein leckeres Erfrischungsgetränk und dann im Zimmer einen kleinen Obstkorb und eine Schachtel mit köstlichen Pralinen. Der Inhalt der Minibar war kostenfrei. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist überwältigend und man sitzt auf einer schattigen Terrasse mit Blick aufs Wasser. Das Personal ist auch hier sehr freundlich. Alles in allem hat mir der Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen.

Luxury of old time
For one night in Colombo was ok but too expensive otherwise. The old colonial hotel was well renovated to today's standards, maybe too many personnel! The front garden with swimming pool and restaurant directly on the beach is very beautiful.

Mein Lieblingshotel in Colombo
Ich bin schon zum 3. Mal im Galle Face und habe mich sehr wohlgefühlt. Das Frühstück war hervorragend. Auch die a la Carte Gerichte waren sehr gut. Am Swimmingpool mit Blick aufs Meer zu entspannen ist einfach wunderbar. Leider fehlen genügend Schattenplätze - insbesondere am Nachmittag. Da sollte das Hotel unbedingt noch mehr und neigbare Sonnenschirme anschaffen. Schade war, dass der Spa Bereich wegen Renovierung geschlossen hatte. Ansonsten alles bestens!!

Fantastisches Hotel mit Geschcihte
Bestimmt gibt es andere Hotels, die einen noch besseren und moderneren Standard bieten, jedoch ist die Atmosphäre und das historische Ambiente einzigartig. Gute Lage, toller Pool zum Schwimmen (30m) und das Flair vergangener Zeiten machen dieses Hotel einzigartig!

Unfortunately we got a very dark room. Pratically no light from the outside. Absolutly no view. Room 1014.This room schould not be given to peopel.It was also in the old wing.At the pool it took very long till somebody was helpping me to get the sun umbrella up despite the fact that several staff memebers were standing around.The food was good also in the so called Fine Dining Restaurant.WLAN was good.I do not recommend this Hotel as the chances are that you get a very bad room. We stayed three days so it was disapointing.

The rooms and hotels are great. Staff is very nice & the pool area is beautiful. I stood twice at 2 different rooms & it’s pretty neat and clean. The only flaw I encountered which was very disappointing is the stained bed sheets in junior sweet. Buy new sheets for crying out loud! It wasn’t even a standard room but a suite!

Nice old colonial style hotel on the beach but charmless staff at reception spoilt the visit - we said good evening mr and mrs ourname checking in the best they could come up with was “passports” and it did not get better. Communication with the hotel prior to arrival was very poor. Lots of work on this needed.

The hotel is lovely and very traditional. The staff are very attentive and always welcoming. The pool area however requires upgrading as the flooring is broken in several places and is a safety hazard.

Our second stay at the Galle Face - once you have stayed there you won’t want to stay anywhere else in Colombo. The hotel is set right on the beach front with a fabulous 30 m sea salt pool A qualified lifeguard is always on duty- a big thank you to Aja for welcoming us back to the pool and sunloungers -a top spot! Happy Hour cocktails on the hotel green to watch the sun go down while the flag is lowered and the bagpipes play - perfect start to the evening. Dine then on the open terrace with a fantastic choice of Sri Lankan and international cuisine. Several bars on site to choose from after this Highly recommend this hotel

The location, the history and the fine details in the room. The hotel has a great seaside view and the sunset view cannot be beat.

Room was what I booked..no upgrade ..even though they said I was. Toilet door didn't work so ja.med and couldn't get out. Bathroom sink clogged.
