We were referred to Il Molino by friends who have had family reunions here for many years. Now we know why they unequivocally recommended that we look no further for a place to stay in Tuscany. Not just a place to sleep and leave our stuff but to feel, dare I say “at home”, during our stay.
We spent a week at the Nobile’s comfortable Tower Suite, with our teenage daughter. We were made to feel at home from our initial encounter with the Nobile’s children, who showed us our accommodations, made dinner recommendations and reservations, and filled us in on that evening’s entertainment, a festival in which they were participating in town.
From then on, all we had to do was to express a concern or desire and Caroline or Pino would be quick to make suggestions about road trips, sights, or unique experiences, such as a dinner at the home of a local chef/farmer. It was like being at home, but in a new and exciting environment.
Using this as our home base, we were able to explore most of Tuscany’s, and some of Umbria’s, historical and enchanting cities via easy one day round-trips by car.
We wished we’d had an extra week to explore all the sites and gastronomic experiences. And, maybe another week just to hang out by the pool.
