Lovers of history will want to visit the many castles in the area; including Raby, Auckland, and Barnard (all within 16 miles), while Durham’s charming city centre is only 11 miles away. For an interesting afternoon out, head to the majestic Bowes Museum (16.5 miles) for a vibrant range of events and exhibitions, and to explore the pleasant gardens, woodlands, and picnic areas.
