Was in town for an annual motorcycle show being held at Hale Farm. Location was perfect for my needs and first night was exactly as expected after a typical check-in process (text with door code, etc.) - I was still under the assumption I had rented a cabin from a private owner / not a place in a campground.
Day 2 I came back to the house and was immediately greeted by frantic owners worried about my trailer. It was then that I found out that they had 62 acres, basically purchased an old Boy Scout Camp and turned it into rentals. Neat.
That night I was having friends come by for dinner, to use one of the amenities that I rented, the kitchen. The owners of the campground had a fit when my guests arrived - guests that had rented houses all over the area and were in town for the same annual event.
I’ve never been treated so poorly in my entire adult life - the owners made a big production about us having dinner and finally granted permission, as long as everyone was “gone by 10:00.”
I’m an adult, that paid a premium to rent a house for a weekend away, not a teenager on spring break. Way too much owner-involvement for me to recommend this place.
