This unique spot is the site of old concrete pier ruins in the quaint coastal village of Davenport, which now is just a set of concrete pylons that used to hold it up. Davenport is located just North of Santa Cruz, on the northern edge of the famed Monterey Bay Peninsula. The pier is a spot known to attract photographers from all over wishing to capture the beautiful abandoned pier. The only way down to the beach is down a steep cliff. At the top of the climb down this is a climbing rope jimmy rigged to a metal fence pole which helped with getting up and down. The trail down the cliff needed a little bit of climbing experience but it wasn't as daunting as it seems from above. #likealocal

Sitting under a sea cave with my little one at Shark Fin Cove. A picturesque beach with stunning views of Northern California's stunning coastal landscape. During low tide, you can explore all kinds of sea creatures in the tide pools and if you're lucky, you can spot humpback whales during their migration season. There is a small parking lot by a discontinued railroad track where you can park your car and walk across to the beach entrance. Schönes modernes Hotel. Easy Check-in. Gute Betten. Frühstücken kann man im angeschlossenen Café. Unser Zimmer ging leider zur Straße raus und war wochentags sehr laut. Zudem hatten wir einen unangenehmen Geruch nach Essen im Zimmer.
