A Castle of Illusions & Broken Promises
My spouse and I recently had the misfortune of staying at the Dalmahoy, which claims to be a luxury hotel. Sadly, the experience was far from luxurious. The staff were aloof, showing a glaring lack of attentiveness and a service level more befitting of an inattentive butler from a comedy show. Breakfast was a lowlight, easily the most lackluster we've ever endured. Aesthetically, the hotel is trapped in a bygone era, and not in a charming, vintage way. It's just outdated, with interiors that evoke the term "old crap" more than anything else. The water system seems equally ancient, requiring a near-epic wait of over 30 minutes just to get cold water in the mornings. The price of 300 GBP per night hinted at a posh experience, but what we received was reminiscent of a youth hostel. And that’s being generous! Even a Premier Inn offers a superior experience, and that's saying something. While they entice you with promises of sleeping in a castle, this is far from the truth. The castle houses only a restaurant and a couple of conference rooms. Bedrooms are unceremoniously tucked away in a nondescript building from the 1990s – hardly the fairytale experience we were led to believe. To top it off, the noise levels were unbearable. Light sleepers, be warned: the slamming doors will rouse you well before you’re ready to face the disappointments of the day. All in all, the Dalmahoy was a monumental letdown. Die Hotelanlage ist sehr schön und das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Edinburgh ist mit dem Bus in einer guten halben Stunde zu erreichen.

Schmutzig und abgenutzt. Personal zu wenig und überfordert, teils unfreundlich. Auf Bitte , den völlig verdreckten Filter im Bad zu reinigen, ist nichts passiert. Frühstück entsetzlich, verdreckte Tische, Wartezeiten, zu wenig Personal. Nie wieder.

Wer gerne ausserhalb übernachtet, ist hier genau richtig. Sehr gute Busverbindung (X27,X28) nach Edinburgh. Haltestelle ca 550m vom Hotel entfernt. Sehr nettes und zuvorkommendes Personal. Sehr guter Fitnessbereich und Schwimmbad. Landestypische Einrichtung. Empfehlenswert!

Die Lage war super. Das Personal sehr freundlich. Frühstück war gut. Betten sehr bequem. Wir waren 3 Nächte dort und jeden Abend fand eine Hochzeit statt. Unser Zimmer ging leider zu der Seite raus, wo auch der Festsaal war. Dementsprechend war es zwischendurch ein wenig laut, wenn man das Fenster offen hatte (da keine Klimaanlage = Fenster offen). Wirklich gestört hat es uns nicht, ist schliesslich eine super Hochzeit Location.

The Dalmahoy hotel was wonderful especially the staff who were all helpful and friendly. We were greeted by Paulo upon our arrival and he was very helpful plus every time we saw him during a five day stay he remembered our names. It was a great reminder of why we visit Scotland.

When we arrived near the end of time the kitchen was open, they arranged for our bags to be brought to our room and brought us directly to a table in the bar so we got to order in time. The concierge ordered a taxi for our early morning departure the next day and was very helpful. Everyone we met was nice. The room was clean and had a nice shower. Wish we stayed here longer.
