If you enjoy the outdoors but still want a comfortable bed at the end of the day, our Barn Cabin might be just what you're looking for.
It's a small, cozy cabin on our working Wagyu farm, surrounded by open fields, fresh air, and plenty of farm life. You can sit on the porch with your morning coffee or spend the evening around the fire.
It's simple, a little rustic, and a nice change from everyday life.
INSIDE THE CABIN
The cabin is one cozy wooden room with:
• A comfortable queen bed
• A wall heater to keep you warm
• Small refrigerator
• Electric kettle and a pitcher of drinking water
• Counter with two stools
Fresh bedding and towels are provided. We leave the bed unmade on purpose: the sheets, pillows, and blankets are clean and waiting in a storage tote, so you can use ours or bring your own.
There's no kitchen, but you're welcome to bring a hot plate for the counter. The kettle is handy for instant coffee or tea, so bring your own. You can also use a camp stove at the picnic table, bring a cooler of ready-to-eat food, or head into Lynden for dinner, about 3 miles away.
BATHROOM & SHOWER
There's no bathroom or running water inside the cabin. From November through March, a portable outdoor restroom sits just steps from your door. It's professionally serviced and all yours.
The sink and a hot shower in an enclosed stall with a door are a short walk away under the lean-to by the barn.
WINTER ON THE FARM
Winter on the farm is peaceful. The heater keeps the cabin warm, and the hot tub is open all winter.
The hot shower is open all winter too. On a frosty night (below 32°F), we turn the water off to protect the pipes and turn it back on once it warms up. Your restroom and the drinking water in the cabin are always there.
If the weather looks like it'll change anything for your stay, we'll message you a few days ahead, or right when you book if it's last minute.
Not seeing your dates? In winter we open the calendar a week or two at a time, so check back soon.
OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR
You'll have your own porch, picnic table, and fire ring, with open fields all around. Want a fire? Let us know and we'll bring chairs out.
Our cows are raised right here. Spring through fall they're out on the pastures, and in winter they're in our big yellow barn.
You're welcome to walk along the farm lanes. Firewood is available for purchase.
HOT TUB TIME
Our hot tub has privacy fencing all around and a gated entrance, located behind the farmhouse, a short stroll from the cabin. It's the perfect place to relax, watch the steam rise, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the farm.
After you book, we'll send a calendar link so you can reserve your own 45-minute time slot. The hot tub is yours alone during your slot.
• Open daily, 7:45 AM to 9:45 PM
• Change in the cabin before you head over. It's open to the sky, so bring a bag to keep your towel dry.
• From November through February it's dark by suppertime, so an evening soak really is under the stars
• Take the lantern from the cabin for the walk after dark
• Professionally serviced by Tub Tec Service, so the water's clean and ready when you get in
WAGYU FOR DINNER?
Since you're staying on a Wagyu farm, you might as well enjoy some of our beef!
We raise Wagyu and Angus cattle right here on the farm, and you'll find a variety of cuts in our Farmstead Market. After you book, we'll send you a link to pick a time to shop. Everything is frozen, so if you'd like something ready to cook, order one of our pre-made boxes at least 24 hours before arrival and we'll have it thawed and waiting at check-in.
WHAT TO BRING
Pack like you're going camping:
• A jug of water for the cabin. There's no running water inside, and it's handy on a frosty morning.
• Your favorite instant coffee or tea
• A warm coat, rain gear and slip-on shoes for trips out to the restroom, shower and hot tub
• A flashlight for walking around the farm after dark (there's also a lantern in the cabin)
• A hot plate, camp stove or cooler if you plan to cook
• A comfy camp chair if you'd like one. Inside, it's two wooden bar stools at the counter.
• Bedding is in a tote, or bring your own.
BRINGING YOUR DOG?
We welcome one dog, up to 50 lbs, with a pet fee. Bringing your dog's own bed or crate helps keep things fresh for the next guest.
Dogs stay on a leash whenever they're outside, stay off the bed, and are never left alone on the farm, so plan outings your dog can join, or book a local dog sitter or daycare for the day. The one exception is your hot tub time: your dog can wait in a crate in the cabin, or in your car if it's cool out. Please keep barking to a minimum and keep your dog clear of the cattle and chickens.
Herding breeds or dogs that react to livestock: please message us before booking.
A LITTLE ABOUT US
We're Glen and Lisa, and we live right here on the farm.
We're former dairy farmers turned Wagyu beef farmers. These days, we're raising cattle, tending to the farm, and welcoming guests who want to experience a little bit of farm life.
We're around if you need anything, but otherwise we'll leave you to enjoy your peace and quiet.
