2. The Artist's Secret Garden

Fairfield

« Easy to find and check in. The apartment was historic, and the art was beautiful. The place was clean, felt like home immediately, was well maintained, and kitchen and bathroom amenities were bountiful. Internet wifi was fast (I had to upload large video files and did so quickly). I appreciated the communication prior to check in, and the written instructions and local tips in the host's guide book. Downtown was a quick 8 minute walk and very safe for female traveling alone. There are several...

Niota

« Pros:- Everything important was clean (sheets and bathroom)- The location was amazing: gorgeous view of the river, quiet space out in nature, and super close to Nauvoo- Check-in and check-out were smooth and easyCons:- Most of the rental was covered in years' worth of dirt and grime- The cabin had an extremely strong mildew smell. It was so strong that I had a hard time sleeping at night. - One of the window A/C units was unusable because of mold »

6. Charming 3-bedroom apartment with WiFi, AC in welcoming Historic Nauvoo.

Nauvoo

« Historic Nauvoo. What a neat little town. Everyone was extremely friendly. The property is good value for the money. If you park on the Main Street, it’s easy to find. The alleyway from the front is level concrete and well lit. We parked in back as we were instructed. It was a little confusing at first, until I reread the instructions. The concrete alleyway from the back is uneven and not as well lit. But the town is a safe one, so security is already felt. The stairs to the upper apts...

Keosauqua

« We had a great stay at this river cabin in Keosauqua! The location was private and peaceful, making it the perfect place to relax and spend time with a group of friends. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything we needed, including pots and pans, blankets, towels, a full kitchen, air conditioning, and plenty of fans to keep the air circulating. We especially enjoyed the screened-in porch, the large dining table where everyone could gather, and the Blackstone grill,...

« This is a wonderful place. It is a cozy but towering space. The loft has what feels like a secret cave into an even cozier space. There is a huge back deck overlooking a wonderful yard. Although this is a private apartment space in a large house holding multiple spaces, it felt like we were all alone. We loved it. Communication was friendly and simple. The hosts were very accomodating. We can't wait to come back :) »

15. Fairy Bowery

Nauvoo

« The owner was awesome to work with. There were lots of touches to fit with the name Fairy Bowery. The artwork and decorations put the location in liminal space. The Air Conditioning was able to keep up with Nauvoo summer (in fact we had to scale it back to keep from freezing.) We were there for a family reunion, and all of the family that saw our location and accommodations was jealous. Next time we have a reunion in Nauvoo, we'll have to reserve it at least 6 months in advance to keep my...
