We enjoyed our stay in this historic cabin. There was plenty of space for the 4 of us to spread out, which was nice since we stayed 4 nights. We loved the large kitchen and the ability to prepare a few meals during our stay. The glassware, dishware and cutlery were a little hodgepodge, but we managed.
We were happy to see extra paper towels and toilet paper, as well as an ample supply of toiletries, towels and wash cloths. Another nice touch is the full size washer and dryer. Many vacation rentals do not offer this.
We particularly enjoyed the rocking chairs and swing on the front porch where we had our coffee each morning.
While there were many things we liked about the cabin, there were a few misses as well. The description is somewhat misleading. It states there are 2 king beds when in fact, there is 1 king and 1 queen bed. The cabin actually presents much nicer in the photos than in person. The furniture is a bit tired and the cabin is more rustic than it appears and it is very dimly lit.
Instructions on how to work the televisions/dish would have been helpful. We had some difficulty and also found corroded batteries in one of the remotes and had to borrow from the other remote. Since we could not get the tv to work, it would have been nice to have a dvd/blue ray player since we brought movies with us.
Despite the misses we mentioned, we would definitely stay again. We do, however, encourage management to stay a night or two in the cabin to get a feel for what would make the stay better. A few very simple and low cost touches would make the stay more comfortable. Ask the cleaning staff to check the remote batteries, watch the lightbulbs, tighten the loose toilet seats, add a blue ray player, get a matched set of dishes, cutlery and wine glasses. Leave some information on the history of the combined cabins, perhaps some before and after photos. Do a few things and invite us back, we will come!
