This was by far the worst rental experience we’ve ever had and we stay in multiple rentals yearly. The home was nothing like advertised and in unacceptable condition. We arrived to a sticky note from a neighbor complaining about the “gross yard” (weeds, garbage, and dog waste). That set the tone. Inside, the situation was even worse. The house smelled strongly of urine, the floors hadn’t been cleaned (grass and hair everywhere), and there were used items—including a water bottle and what appeared to be pills under the couch. Shower curtains were discolored and covered in mold. Garbage was piled outside near the hot tub, which didn’t work (stuck on “heat suspended”). It also was covered in dirt and grime and smelled awful. The sauna didn’t work either. We found a massive hairball in the shower, blood stains on a quilt in the bunk room, and mouse droppings in the cupboards. The dishwasher was full, some remotes were missing or had no batteries, and towels labeled as “clean” were folded wet in the closet. Only 12 towels were provided for a house advertised to sleep 16. We contacted the host within hours of arrival—no response. VRBO intervened, and the host promised someone would come clean and fix the hot tub, but no one ever showed. On a holiday weekend with a large group, we had no other options. We’re still fighting for a refund and spent hours of our vacation cleaning and trying to get this resolved. Save yourself the stress—do not book this place.
