Nice Early Fall Getaway!

The view of the lake is like none other! We enjoyed sitting on the upper level of dock. Decor is very nice. Plenty of supplies for those who like to cook. Some spider webs and dust bunnies, and outdoor furniture could use some tlc or replacing. Otherwise, we have no complaints. :)

Dirty outside needs lots of cleaning and Maintenance

Could not hardly go to outside decks, dirty, windows so dirty couldn’t hardly see out, cob webs, spiders, etc. Screens in windows torn, showers had no pressure, had to use cup to get enough water to rinse, some doors don’t lock, living room windows leak. Washer is very nasty, it messes up, it was so dirty it messed up and a bunch of junk came out and destroyed some of our cloths. Beware of neighbors dog it tried to bite us and they just played it off as well there is new people at this house all the time.

Not exactly as advertised

First of all, as renters they give you a fake address once you have payed all of the rental costs. You don’t get the actual address until about 2 weeks before your arrival date. Looks like that is because it’s a 20 minute drive back some very narrow roads to get to the house. The pictures do not show how steep the property is. Very steep driveway down to the house and a steep walk from the house to the dock. The house was comfortable but could use some TLC. The downstairs flooring has large gaps between some of the boards When we arrived after the check in time, the cleaning crew was still there and not finished. We contacted the property manager about some issues (coffee maker, grill condition and cleaning crew) and he was very helpful. Overall, it was an enjoyable week. We feel that the property should be marketed as it really is and that potential renters should be made aware of the location so they can make informed decisions.

2 family home for 9 people stayed comfortably. Very nice dock and we enjoyed the use very much. Do feel like home is nice kitchen well stocked and views are incredible but some of home could still could use updating; exspecially ouside front property and outside deck.

Good Location, Not Terrific VRBO

Wrong address purposely listed in VRBO - correct one is Hannabass Dr. in Goodview. Renter will not have that info until check-in instructions and rental has been paid - found that deceiving. Outside property hasn’t been tended to in years - broken patio furniture, ripped screens, mold and bug doo all over exteriors. Manager sent maintenance over for 3 visits during stay. Appreciate the effort but didn’t expect that for the fees/price although we were refunded on cleaning fee. We scrubbed exterior in eating area and at dockside. Indoor is tidy, enough supplies, yet dirty. On the plus side, there was room for all 9 of us and it’s a very nice location in west lake area. We made the most of our stay and had a great week after cleaning the place. More bang for your buck in other locations!

Great Family Spot!

We just returned from our weeklong trip and I couldn't wait to write a review! We have done multiple rentals at SML over the years and this was the best house so far! The property was as great as it looked in the pictures and the owners were very responsive when we were onsite. We couldn't find the hammock so they ordered a new one and had it delivered the next day! What service. The house is pet friendly but the yard isn't fenced. The neighbors were all lovely though and our dog made some new friends with their pets. The dock was amazing for sunning, swimming and reading. It was farther up the channel (past the bridge) than we have stayed before. Although It was technically outside of the allowed boat rental area (at least at the marina we've used), they didn't give us any trouble about the address when we picked up the boat. We greatly enjoyed the hot tub at the end of each day. The second kitchenette and refrigerator in the basement was a lifesaver for our party of 6! Great place!

Such a beautiful and relaxing home!

I stayed here to bring in the New Year and couldn't have picked a better location. The house was nice and cozy. The neighborhood was quiet. The views from the top and bottom porches were amazing and breathtaking. I really enjoyed being able to relax in the hammock on the dock and in the hot tub. A fire pit would be a lovely addition to the property. I definitely plan to come back to this place again!

Great place for family and dogs

We enjoyed a week at SML - this house worked well for our family, 6 adults, dogs and 2 small children. The house is on the older side and could use some small updates but overall we were very pleased. We cooked everyday and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. The dock is wonderful and a great place to hang out. The neighbors are wonderful as well.

A great first trip to Smith Mountain Lake

This was our first trip to SML. We decided on Serenity because of it's size and the nice dock in the pictures. Overall it has a nice deck with great views and makes a great place to sit around for a meal or just to relax. Despite some really high temps, we got a bit of use out of the hot tub which was a nice addition. As for the interior, it was very clean and maintained. The kitchen had just about everything we needed. The bedrooms had lots of room and the beds were very comfortable. We also got some good use out of the gas grill which was clean and full of gas. The real gem of the place is the dock. It appears they just did some upgrades with all brand new synthetic decking and railing. We spent a lot of time down there swimming and laying out. As we traveled around the lake, we noticed that most houses don't have large docks and very few had upper decks, so this house was in a league of it's own. The hill is isn't bad and it get's lots of sun (something to pay close attention to when looking around). As far as access, it was easy getting to the house, although you will spend some time on a short windy road getting there. There's a small general store within minutes of the house if you need something and you're within 15-20 minutes from Food Lion, shopping at Moneta, boat rentals at Halesford Harbour and restaraunts/shops leading over to the bridge area which is the focal point of SML. If you're looking for food recommendations we would say be sure to stop at Copper Kettle and Vinnys Italian Grill, both had great food and service. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely consider staying here again. Suggestions: Good Powerwash, some sort of kayak launch and add a crockpot to kitchen. Thanks for letting us stay at your house.

pictures on internet do not hold up to expectations

When pulling into the driveway I was very disappointed with how bad the outside of property looked . The bushes have never been trimmed the weeds and grass around carport were never weed wacked. Back deck area outside dining room had cobwebs and dirt , dead bugs everywhere. I swept them all down. The gas grill disgusting ! Only has one burner working. Hot tub leaks water and is in really bad condition. The dishwasher was overflowing with dishes. They were cleaned but jammed in there, way too many . The cupboards were all a mess. Witch I reorganized. Down stairs bathroom / toilet /shower area the light has lots of dead bugs. Looks like its never been clean. Very dim lighting , too dark to shower down there.

Great gathering spot with old friends

Lovely views, lots of room for a meeting with old college friends. Very clean - loved the lake views from almost every room. Weather was cool, but mostly sunny and we could enjoy the deck. Took many sidetrips in the area - successful, with covid restrictions - Booker T. Washington, US Alpaca tour, D Day Memorial, and even a trip to Monticello (2 hours away).

Great getaway!

We loved our stay! The house very very clean and open with view of lake. We did have hiccup with the boat ramp being closed but the neighbors were super nice and gave us another option. We will definitely be back and want to stay a whole week next time!

Beautiful home and Great Host!

We had a lovely time at Westlake Corner. The house is very spacious, and we loved using the hot tub in the cold weather. The dock was beautiful and despite we cold we spent plenty of time above the water. We actually got engaged at the house outside in front of the lake, so it holds a very special place in our hearts! The house was generally clean despite a few stains on sheets and dishware, which Wali assured us would be handled prior to the next guests. We were surprised that Wali opens the house to pets, the house was so well kept and did not have any lingering pet odors. Wali had wonderful communication with us the whole duration of the stay as well as prior to our stay. We highly recommend staying at this property, and hopefully you might make special memories as well!

Thanksgiving retreat

This lake house is so beautiful. Beds were semi comfortable. The ice maker on fridge can be temperamental but makes ice well. The view is amazing. Lots of places to gather. Kitchen is stocked well. Plenty of blankets and pillows.

Lovely Dog Friendly Lake House!

My husband and I and our two pups stayed for a few nights at this lovely property. The house was very clean, and I was shocked at how beautiful it was in person. A lot of times "dog-friendly" properties aren't that nice, but this one really was. I was actually really surprised they permitted dogs because of how nice it was. They had recently updated a few things, so the photos currently listed on VRBO don't do the home justice, like for example, they have a new couch in the living room (very comfy too!), new lamps, and rugs. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of cookware and utensils to cook. The only thing I didn't see and that wasn't in the email to bring was dish soap and a sponge (sometimes we didn't want to run the washing machine for a few dishes). We had plenty of towels for our two-person stay. We brought our kayaks and took our pups out in them onto the lake. It was really nice to be able to launch from the back yard and not have to drive to a boat dock. We made use of the hot tub and felt it was very safe because we could smell the chlorine (a good thing!). We didn't do much other than hanging out at the house and take in the view, we made a trip to the nearby general store (which had a decent amount of stuff for a general store) and Food Lion. The owner of the property called us before our arrival to ensure we had the correct address and was very pleasant to speak to. We communicated a little with him during our stay and he was always cordial. We would definitely consider staying at this house again, maybe with more family since the home sported 3 King size beds + a Twin and Full. Anyways, if your looking for a beautiful dog-friendly property, with a nice owner, a stunning deck, and living room view, and a peaceful quiet getaway, don't hesitate.

Beautiful views!

We absolutely loved the property. Layout of house was perfect- teenagers were able to have their own space. Views from all 3 king bedrooms, living room and deck were amazing. Kitchen utensils and cookware were updated along with new/updated furniture. The only drawback is we were looking for a bit more wooded type surroundings so kids could explore, but that didn’t affect us at all. Loved our trip!
