Every single member of staff, from reception to restaurant to lounge bar and pizza bar were so welcoming, polite and friendly. Couldn’t do enough but in just the right way. Food is incredibly delicious, wine list excellent! I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. ( They even let me play the piano until late in the lounge bar). Big Italian influence for obvious reasons and it really almost feels like you’re in Italy at times.

Lovely hotel
We had 2 rooms. Checkin was fast and painless, with reception staff being polite and helpful. Breakfast was lovely, great simple selection of cooked foods which was replenished regularly. Our room was in the main hotel which was clean albeit a bit dated. The main downfall for me was the bed, it was definitely in need of a new mattress, springs sticking in my sides made it an uncomfortable sleep for me. We would stay again

Ask for a quite room
The hotel was spotless, staff very good and helpful, and the restaurant really nice, we had a lovely meal in there, disappointingly the room, the room itself was excellent but very noisy, traffic/neighbours and hallway you could hear every footstep and every passing vehicle.

Disappointing, the hotel is great downstairs and well kept nice grounds great for parking but twice I have stayed recently and can saybthe rooms are dated, a little tired and require maintenance. My beds in the twin room both ancient and the shower was either cold or scalding! The worst part was a coach load of german? tourists were at breakfast and were being prioritised I managed to speak with a helpful waitress who grabbed me a coffee unfortunately I had to leave without breakfast. I dont think that my custom was valued and I will not be back.

The property looked good from the outside, the reception check in staff were lovely and the desk looked welcoming. We were impressed until we got to our room. To say it was dated is an understatement, the phone in the room should be sent back to 1980 (brown and stained). The shower over the bath leaked despite having a screen as the seal under the screen let the water out all over the floor and the floor tiles had turned colour due to this. My husband and I both suffered the next day due to the bed - we literally had to fight through the night to stop rolling into each other and every spring could be felt. They had a function on in the hotel the night we stayed and the disco music went on into the early hours and could be heard from our room. All in all a very disappointing stay and would definitely not recommend.

Generally was a very good welcoming place. Only criticisms are Having seen I was mobility impaired with a large case, no assistance was offered to locate my room and assist with my case. It would have been nice if some assistance had been offered. The bar and restaurant on site were very nice, however only offering the bar menu of pizza and burgers for dinner 2 nights of the week was not very welcome. More choice should be available if a 7 day a week restaurant.

Tired and dated
The Avonbridge used to be a well respected establishment in Hamilton and a stay there was looked on as a bit of a luxury. Sadly those days are gone and it has become a tired place in need of refurbishment, particularly if you end up in one of the annex buildings which are very unwelcoming. It achieves it's aim of being somewhere to lay your head down and came at a better price than other established chains in town. We could not get the wi-fi to connect on any of our mobiles despite it supposedly being rebooted at the router. I know, first world problem. If you are happy with a place to rest and can get the Avonbridge at a good price then fine, it is what it is. If you are looking for the reputation and quality of the past then I wouldn't recommend it, you may be disappointed.

Give it a miss
Have stayed before. It was noisy then this year it was terrible. I asked for a quiet room. My husband is 70 and has just had knee replacement. They put us in on 3rd floor. No lift!. But if quiet fair enough. At 12.30 the door slamming started and the party kicked off. Our room was surrounded by what sounded like the Irish rugby team all drunk. And the racket went on for a few hours. So although we have stayed there twice. There won’t be a third.

Very uncomfortable bed and pillows. Noise from very creaky floorboards upstairs started at 4.30am. Ate in the sports bar area, when seated asked the staff for a cloth to clean the table. She brought a pile of blue roll and just put it on the table for us to do ourselves! Food was nice though.

We stayed here for 3 nights on an away from the kids couple of days "date days". The hotel location is a great alternative to staying in the bigger cities, and an easy drive to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. The room we booked was a standard double. It was okay, the bed seemed smaller than a usual double but this could be because we are used to a bigger bed at home, the room itself was cosy, with a desk and set of drawers. There wasn't much wardrobe space but it was nice to find we had a trouser press in the wardrobe along with the iron and ironing board. During the 3 night stay we feel the room was only fully serviced with fresh towels, refills of tea and coffee and bins emptied on the first morning. After the second night we returned to the room to find damp towels on the bed, the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied and the tea and coffee station not refilled. This being said for the price we paid we would consider staying again maybe in a slightly bigger room. Breakfast was included in our booking, which consisted of a buffet breakfast. There could have been more option on the breakfast, fruit teas, more fruit options things of this nature. For the purpose of our stay which was mainly just somewhere to put our head down each night the room served its purpose.

Keep it clean
There were stains on the sheets and on the box springs covers. The glass on the bathroom was dirty as were the spoons for the coffee cups. The toilet did not flush very well.
