Do not bring big a large 17 foot bass boat with your truck! There is no room to turn your boat around and to park your boat trailor. There is a sand bar close to the dock which made it almost impossible to get the boat to the dock. The drive way is shared with the property next to the bungalow which is very close. We could hear everything the neighbors were saying! The bungalow was nice and clean. The water was brown when flushing the commode. Bring bottled water! Unfortunately, due to not being able to park our trailor on this very tiny property, we left the next morning due to the fear of our trailor being removed where we put the boat in the water. We were so disappointed with this rental and unable to enjoy Claytor Lake.

This is the sweetest little lake house. Very beautiful and quiet. We need to come back when we can just sit on the deck and enjoy the space. The house had plenty of linens, coffee and some cute little gifts. The bed was very comfortable. The shower does make a loud noise when you turn it on. But nice hot water.

My wife and I stayed at Blackberry Bungalow at the end of July and could not have been happier with our experience - all expectations were exceeded. The location of the home, the neighborhood, proximity to the water and to local trails were all outstanding. The home was clean, beautifully set up, perfectly designed and exceeded all of our needs. We are looking forward to returning some time soon and recommend it to anyone interested in a great vacation! -Frank & Cheryl

We had a great time. Everything was as listed. House was very clean and comfortable. We liked it so much that we booked another stay. House is close to two nice State Parks where we hiked and tubed! Fast responses from the host. Highly recommend!

The view was wonderful and it was so quiet and relaxing. The bed was so comfortable and everything was very clean. It was the perfect weekend getaway. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Enjoyable stay at the tiny house

The home was the perfect size for my husband and I along with our Labrador retriever. The space was very clean and the environment was super quiet and serene. Our college age boys enjoyed hanging out with us on the deck during their visit to the home. The kitchen is very nice as were the other areas of the home.

Everything we hoped for

Very clean, comfortable furnitures , great kitchen, nice deck and easy access to kayaks. Awesome location. We enjoyed fire pit and great neighborhood. If you looking for couple days gateway off the beaten path this is the perfect place for you.

Quiet modern bungalow!

Blackberry Bungalow was the perfect place for my husband and I to rest and relax for a few days vacation. The small cabin is updated, and comfortable with a beautiful lake view. It’s located in a private, quiet neighborhood. The price is right too. Wonderful place for a peaceful retreat!

Above expectations.

Every descriptor word that is used in the listing is an understatement. Clean- id guess the place was newly remodeled and we were the first guest. Quiet- COMPLETE silence day and night. The view is beautiful. We will be back!

Post Hurricane Helene, still impressed

Other than the lake being closed down because of Hurricane, this property did not disappoint and exceeded our expectations. May need 4x4 to park off the street, dock was in bad shape from hurricane, but what the hosts could control was perfect. Thank you all for a great place to stay and wishing you luck with the dock repairs!

Great space for two!

We enjoyed our stay. We were looking for a quiet getaway and this little space was great for the two of us. It was awesome to have the use of the kayaks. The only reason for the 4 stars was the issue of pet hair that we noticed on the floors.

Storm rolled in during the night prior to stay, knocking everything out...had to wait it out at motel for a couple of nights. Property manager was very supportive & helpful during the whole process. Once the power came back on, we were finally able to relax, unwind & enjoy the last couple of days at the bungalow by the lake.

Lovely house for 2

The house is lovely with direct views of the water. The owners have obviously put in alot of time making it comfortable. We cooked and the kitchen had pots/pans enought to make meals. It is small, just the right size for a couple, but the bed was comfortable, and everything was clean and well-decorated. As others have said, there isn't a walkway up to the house, but as long as you don't have any mobility issues, it is really fine. We had our VT son with us for a weekend; it was a night away for him, and gave us good low key together time. The cabin Is a solid 45 min drive to campus, but we had planned to do Claytor Lake Park and such versus being in Blacksburg. Would stay here again.

Nice cottage!

Listing was accurate. Cottage had nice furnishings and appliances. Very clean! The walk uphill without a walkway to enter the property may be challenging for some, but we found it quite manageable. Plan for limited storage. Overall a great rental. Be sure to plan a meal at Draper Mercantile.

We had an amazing time

The only downfall to this place is that there's no walk way up to the house which makes it hard to get up the hill with slick grass and roots hidden in the grass. Also the water pressure was less than desirable. However the area is beautiful and the house is immaculate. The bed was very cozy. The front of the house is all windows and faces the lake which meant you always have a great view. Eating on the deck overlooking the lake was the highlight of our evenings. We are already planning another visit!

Wonderful retreat!

We enjoyed this home. Everything was high quality and they provided plenty of back up necessities. The welcome box was a nice touch. Communication was very quick and the check in and out was smooth. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

The bungalow was beautiful. Very clean and had everything we needed for the kitchen and bath. We did have a hard time figuring out how the heating system worked and it would have been nice to have instructions for the heating unit, dishwasher and stove. Had to figure out how to use them. But it was a very nice place to stay.

We would stay again, but...

Very clean, great location. We enjoyed the small dock, as well as the large deck. My only negatives are these... 1. There were very few cooking utensils. If you plan to do any significant cooking, bring your own. 2. The mattress is memory foam. My wife loves it, I don't. 3. They definitely need to put up some strong hooks. There is no closet space. None. But the only hooks they have were stick-on hooks, and all within inches of each other in the bathroom. 4. The Keurig didn't work 5. If you have any mobility issues, you should know that you can only reach the house by walking uphill across a lawn. Suitcases, etc. cannot be rolled. They must ne carried. All that being said, we would definitely book it again. The neighbors were friendly, and the community is quiet. There is a wonderful restaurant/bakery/coffee shop about 10 minutes away in Draper, the Draper Mercantile and Trading Co. There are also many outdoor opportunities available nearby.
