Classic old world ski feel

First trip here and were would return. Everyone was more than helpful and considerate. Nice and clean with all amenities , in a Classic ski lodge. Food was much better than we expected. Skiing was sublime. Not huge but plenary of options. A very good experience.

location, location...

Getaway ski trip - can't beat the location. Ski in/out. Stayed a couple nights last week to grab a day of skiing. Rooms in the Targhee Lodge are old and maybe a little beat up, facing the parking lot, exterior hallways. If you're downstairs be prepared to hear your upstairs neighbors stomping around in ski boots, flushing toilets, etc. For the extra $ upgrade to the Teewinott Lodge - newer building, quiet, nice lodge / lounge / fireplace area, double the room size, etc.

Don't waste your money

Advertised as Jackson vicinity. That was a joke. 40plus miles over a mountain is not vicinity. Nothing was open except 1 closet they called a store and 1 restaurant with over priced food that sucked.

Location

I didn't have a chance to use any facilities, such as dining room, shops, or any other utility rooms. But breakfast buffet was very yummy. Somehow, my garmin shown the different location and it led me approx. 10 miles away from the lodge. I lost the way and called toll free number and could not talk to an operator. I finally found the location by local person's instruction, and this is one of the reasons why we checked in late night.

Pretty area

The hotel is not near anything, and if you put the address in the GPS, it doesn't take you there. The resort is probably great in the winter for skiers, or if you are staying for a few days. The pool looked wonderful.

Not what we expected

The folks were nice, but the room was underwhelming and kinda smelled funny. I couldn't figure out the AC, if there was any and the place had a "old" feel to it. The upside is that it is in the middle of nowhere

Nice resort, poor maintained rooms

I liked the resort, but the room were old and very poor noise insulation. People walking above us were loud at night time.

Far better than I expected. Great food and views

We’d spent the day in Jackson, WY but didn't want to pay Jackson hotel prices. So we booked at Targhee Lodge, which hasn't changed much when I skied it 20 years ago, but that's charm of it. It's hard for them to compete with new hotels in the summer, but in the winter, they are right on the slopes, so there's that. But the rate was amazing! The rooms were basic, with no AC; but at that elevation, we didn't need it. Staff were pleasant all around, which could go either way when there aren't many guests around. The food at their onsite restaurant was what was unexpected. We didn't want to go down the mountain into Driggs after just coming up, so we figured we'd eat at the only place available. Watermelon gazpacho, mac and cheese with elk sausage and jalapeño and smoked cheddar, and pan-seared idaho trout? It was delicious. Even with a only a few patrons at 8 pm, they didn't let up. Kudos to them. Since we arrived late, they even let us use the pool and hot tub past regular if we didn't make noise. Swimming under the stars surrounded by the Tetons was inspiring. The hotel room itself was nothing to write home about. The experience, however, was. In facy, when I called my dad on my cell and got cut off , he called the hotel to see if I was okay (thought I was choking). Next thing I know, security is at my door to see if I am alive and well. He even let me use his cell (different provider) to let my Dad know that all was well. Now that's service. It's a hidden gem.

Rooms from the 50s

I thought the room was going to be really nice since you are at a fancy ski resort. I was wrong. I don't think the room had been updated since the 50s. Would not stay there again.

no complaints really

We couldn't complain about anything really tho we thought the room was a bit small and primitive for the price but considering the area being so popular, it was better than sleeping on the street. The area had lots to do and wee were not bored!

le pire des hôtels

Hotel loin de tout, situé dans une petite station de ski sans grand intérêt. L'hôtel est peu acceuillant comme son personel, très bruyant et très mal insonorisé. On entend les voisins se moucher et surtout les pas des voisins du dessus. Le bruit n'a cessé que vers minuit pour reprendre à 5h45 du matin. Nous sommes allés 2 fois à la réception pour que cela cesse mais aucune intervention de leur part. Cet hôtel est donc très cher car la nuit a été courte. Je deconseille très fortement cet établissement.

Badly run

The surroundings were the only redeeming value of this hotel. The bathtub had large scratches and I don't think the room has ever been updated. There were signs of mice on my bedstand and something knocked over in the middle of the night all by itself. I stayed in the summer and there was one small window and the room never cooled down. The bed was ok but the carpet was hard and scratchy. The staff was very unfriendly and acted like they were doing you a favor. If you like camping, this is the hotel for you. The gondola ride to the top is worth the money as the view of the Tetons is spectacular. You don't have to stay there to dod that!

Was watching TV in my room when security staff knocks on my door saying"we have a complaint that you are being too loud." The TV was barely audible and I was taken back that they even came to my door. The walls are paper thin and the floors squeak loudly when you walk.

Probably good in winter, awful in summer

This is probably an ok place to stay during the winter as many of the features seemed good for that, but since we were only looking for a room for the night we should have stayed someplace else because this was an awful experience. Hotel is 35-40 minutes round-trip from the main road. When we arrived it seemed a bit like a ghost town because everything was closed and the parking lot was mostly empty. Check-in was easy enough. Room was in the building that has no A/C and awful air flow. The small opening to the window did very little to alleviate the heat in the room and the musty smell. They did provide a small fan, but it did very little to improve the comfort of the room. It was after midnight by the time it was finally cool enough to try to sleep. Had the front door open for a bit, but with people walking by and bugs ended up closing the door again. Features of the room were ok, it'd probably be nice to stay there in winter for skiing. There's a bench by the door and cubbies for each of the 4 people who could stay in the room. Beds were comfortable, but was hard to enjoy with the heat. The trek to the ice machine two buildings over was also a bit annoying.

Way far away from Yellowstone.

Restaurant staff was awesome, surroundings were very relaxing, it was a long way from Yellostone National Park and Grand Tetons. We did not return for second paid night as we would have had to drive 5 hours to get there from East side of Yellowstone. Would love it during ski season.

Rooms were older but, nice, No Air Conditioning and for what I payed would have liked more tv channels. It's understandable no ac because it's designed for winter and skiing. Ice was not easy to get. I wish the sky lift was open later. I didn't get a chance to go on the ride. I heard the view was fabulous. Due to it being away from any towns the restaurants/ bars should be open later too. The very hilly and stressful ride there from Jackson hole wasn't really worth it for summer. However I would recommend it to any skiiers or snowboarders for winter. It's the closest lodge to the top of the top of Grand Tetons.
