Better than expected!

It was a last minute decision for us to stay at this property. We booked it on a whim, and figured if all else fails and the pictures were deceiving, we could camp on the beach lol. We have had a terrible experience with another VRBO property in Hawaii a couple years back. It was literally the worst! We ended up leaving 30 minutes after we arrived and booked the last hotel available on the island. This property was everything advertised and more. Absolutely perfect! The space, the cleanliness, the features and location were exactly what we were hoping for. I would absolutely stay here again and definitely recommend.

Our unit was excellent and working with KBM Management was one of the best experiences we have had in a rental. They were professional, prompt, took care of any issues and was always communicating with us on how our stay was going. Highly recommend them.

Great property, good location on the island. Teenagers loved being able to roam up and down the beach and the pools were great. We loved having Dukes right there.

Great location and Property for Families

Overall, loved the spot. It was close to the pool and the lanai was great for our 10-month-old to be outside but out of the sun. (That side of the building doesn't get sun directly) We went in early March and could not see the actual sunset from the balcony but it was a quick walk down to the beach to watch. Only negatives were we had a toilet that kept running and we called them to see if they could fix it but no luck. The bar sink also linked if the lever was left at the wrong angle which we luckily found out while we were all awake. The coffee machine didn't work when we got there but they promptly brought us a new one. Again, overall, great spot and I would stay there again!

Dishonest - do not rent from KBM

My first bad experience... The unit was fine, but KBM manipulated us into keeping the reservation by promising a refund then refusing to honor it without us signing an NDA with a monetary breach provision that surpasses what many folks make in a year! If you prefer to deal with honest and fair businesses, steer clear of KBM. Details… KBM reached out to us 2 weeks before arrival and said the lanai would be inaccessible (being painted). They gave us 3 options – keep the booking w/a partial refund, stay at another KBM property, or get a full refund. We chose the partial refund. Our refund was conditioned ONLY on us keeping the reservation, and we received no additional materials from KBM prior to arrival. A few days after arrival, I contacted KBM to get the refund. Now they were refusing to honor the promised refund unless we signed a NEW AGREEMENT. The agreement contained a confidentiality component indicating that if anyone would “publicly criticize” KBM, that we could be in breach, and the "breach of this agreement with liquidated damages equal to" an amount that surpasses what many folks make in a year! Egregious! The KBM people I spoke to insisted they do this with ALL refunds. I am writing this review roughly 3 months after our stay and haven’t received a refund. I refuse to sign because 1) this was not the original deal KBM promised and 2) this would place a huge burden on our entire family. I would have to guarantee the performance of every individual in our party to that agreement (including in-laws). We wanted a vacation – NOT a chance to take on this level of risk! What KBM did makes me wonder… How sincere and unbiased can the reviews about KBM be? If all refunds require the reviewer to say nothing negative about KBM (or potentially be in breach), what motivates the reviewers? I have no direct way of knowing what motivated the reviews, but I do know what we experienced and have shared it here freely. When it comes to spending allot of my money on a family vacation, these kinds of headaches KBM created are exactly the kind I want to avoid. I’m saddened to see that VRBO allows these sorts of practices on their platform. If VRBO is reading this review and would like to review this case, I can forward all documentation – including communications (email, voicemail) that occurred off-platform and the NDA agreement itself.

Great vacation

The location and property were great. The 7 of us enjoyed our vacation immensely. The rooms were very comfortable and provided excellent space for our 5 teenage boys. We took advantage of the concierge service who provided excellent recommendations for activities. The only feedback I would give is that the kitchen is a little dated - while the appliances are high end, many of the knobs are worn off so you cannot tell what temperature things are on the oven and the dishwasher would only work on certain settings, was a bit temperamental and required a service call. All in all, a wonderful experience.

BEAUTIFUL!

Love the property and the beach! HUGE bedroom and living space fits everyone comfortably. Duke’s Beach house was a HIT! I love hearing the live music every night it was beautiful. The beach and sunset was amazing. The pool directly in front of the unit. My kids were able to be in the pool and I can see them from my balcony. Other guest were very kind. Everything was GREAT!

Great condo, great service

We had a wonderful stay at this 3 bed/3 bath condo in Honua Kai! The service was excellent: good communication, easy check in and check out, good follow up. The unit itself was very spacious for our party of 8. There were some minor issues (a loose door handle and missing bedding for the sleeper sofa) but management was very gracious about helping make our stay comfortable. I did wish a broom was available as sand inevitably got all over the tile. But overall, an excellent stay. We would stay here again.

We loved the property especially location of our room. Amenities used and enjoyed by all. Wonderful quarters for our family. There were some minor issues we left a note explaining things u may want to finish before next occupant: far oven doesn’t work, main oven starts on its own, refrigerator would start beeping at all various times day or night, refrigerator drawers not on runners, upper dishwasher drawer slides out on its own, toilet paper holder broken in hall bath. Just common use maintenance. Thank you for allowing us to use your wonderful condo. Mahalo

Fantastic unit, and great resort! Don’t miss out!

The unit and resort exceeded our expectations. Amazing lanai with Nana wall door system for indoor/outdoor living, and top of the line appliances and fixtures throughout. Unit was well stocked with plenty of glasses, dishes, utensils, beach and pool toys, pack n’ play and booster seat - all in great condition. Fantastic view of the main pool and partial ocean view; easy beach access for sunset watching. The resort staff were all friendly and helpful. Incredible value for all of the resort amenities and location - we will be back!!

Unit needs a good cleaning.

Our trip was great even though we had to weather a hurricane. KBM was great and made check-in easy. The unit has a great view of the pool and partial view of the ocean which was awesome! It is on the second floor which was great for access to the pool and underground parking. The down side is that the unit needs some work done on the inside. I was a bit embarrassed on the cleanliness of the unit. The living room rug has several huge stains on it. There are scuffmarks on the walls. Thre are stains on most of the outdoor furniture. There was hardly any water pressure in the kitchen sink which made it hard to do dishes. The mattresses desperately need to be replaced as well. Again I think KBM is great, I just think the unit needs a bit of work.

Wonderful Place to Stay

We love the Hanua Kai property, the unit and the grounds in general. The unit is a fantastic three bedroom large unit, very nicely located at the front of the Hanua Kai property. A short elevator ride to pool and beach front. Two bedrooms are like masters with their own large bathrooms, and the third bedroom has a large bathroom off the hallway. All centered around the view that is essentially over the pool. You do not really have an ocean view, but on the patio you can see it through the trees. Loved sitting on the patio each night, having dinner and enjoying the ocean breeze and tropical feel. Overall excellent!

Lovely family stay

This beautiful complex is ideal for families. We came with our son, daughter in law and 19 month old grand daughter. It couldn't have worked out better. Our grand daughter couldn't wait for the 8:30 daily fish feeding in the koi pond. While we had some toilet issues in both bathrooms and a freezer that didn't work- the team addressed the issues quickly. The 2 master rooms with master baths were fantastic and so was the kitchen for staying in to cook when we felt like it. The balcony overlooking the pool was perfect. I would have preferred a unit with more of an ocean view, but we booked so late we were happy to find this one! Overall, highly recommend this setting for ease, convenience, high quality interiors, and service. The only downside was the service around the pool and the mai tais didn't compare to the Westin's!
