We stayed in Kingston because we wanted to „shortcut“´a long stage of the South Coast Path. We received a very friendly welcome, the hosts were great, and the Dolphin Inn Pub and the rooms have lots of athmosphere! We liked it a lot!

Keep away!
I would not recommend a stay at the Dolphin Inn at all. The overall experience was terrible. The room was small and inadequately lit. The sheets and pillow cases, although obviously clean, were placed on old and very badly stained pillows and mattress. The shower holder was broken and as a result the shower head was difficult to direct. The towels and bathroom mat were ancient and threadbare. There was no cooked breakfast, as had been advertised, and what we were given had to be eaten sat on the side of the bed. We had hoped to have a meal in the evening but was presented with a very small menu (as the chef was only part time) and the appearance of the room did not fill us with much confidence. Had a great meal elsewhere! I have learned my lesson- look at the most recent reviews - not general reviews and average ratings. -The place has obviously been good in the past but has not been cared for recently. As a place for a drink it is probably ok, but for somewhere to stay, keep away!

The staff were super friendly and welcoming. We arrived quite late, having walked all day, and the kitchen was closed but they had menus of the local take away in the pub and they ordered for us and laid out a table for us in the pub to eat. They also had an outdoor area where we enjoyed breakfast in the sunshine the following morning.

Hard bed, broken shower head height adjuster, breakfast left outside room. No table in room to use for breakfast. Had to sit on bed for breakfast. Room not serviced overnight so had to ask for new toilet roll. A 2 inchx2 inch block of eco soap was the only item to use in the wash basin and shower. Only two sockets in the room so had to play plug roulette with TV, hair dryer, kettle and chargers. Ate in the pub one night. Choice of fish, scampi and squid each with chips and peas. Nothing else. No dessert or coffee offered . At £115 per night I could have stayed in Plymouth in a chain hotel with better service and facilities for less and travelled to the memorial service I was in the area to attend. Price gouging based on scarcity of hotels in immediate area. Only bright spot was the quality of the breakfast though greatly lacking in quantity. 1 croissant, 1 muffin per person though plenty of cereal. Have been staying in hotels of all standards all over the world since being a child 70 years ago and was a professional conference organiser so well used to dealing with and staying in hotels. If this stay had been on the 4 in a Bed TV show where BandB owners visit and rate each others hotels, I would have deducted £30 a night. Next time I visit the area I’ll look for an Air Band B where eating breakfast can be on a chair at a table and I won’t end up with indegestion.
No table in room so, at the owner’s suggestion had to use a chair and sit on the bed to eat.

The property was very safe and secure. The staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed a decent meal in the pub. Very busy when we first arrived but we happened to hit Friday nights busy period. Room was comfortable as expected and amenities satisfactory. Very good breakfast in the morning. Would highly recommend.

Lovely little room with everything we needed. Could do with a bit of modernisation in the bathroom but was clean. Very friendly pub, decent food too. Dog friendly, we took our puppy which was no hassle qt all.

The property is located down a very narrow country lane but well worth the effort as it really is peaceful, the bar is small and the restaurant very busy, make a booking for a table otherwise you will be disappointed. Had an evening meal which was very good, I had the pate but could have done with more bread and the cod and chips were to die for. Fantastic breakfast choices but asked for a bacon sandwich and some toast. The owner was cooking breakfasts and was a really friendly host. Can’t wait to be back in the area. Thank you. Great staff.

I grew up in the local area but for the last 30 years sadly have been away from the South Hams. I first visited the Dolphin in 1976 (the hot summer) when pre-rugby season training 0n Wonwell Beach. This time Craig the landlord was amazing, as were all his team. I stay in 5 star hotels from Mayfair, Rodeo Drive, Dubai, etc, all around the world, which are lovely but the welcome and attention to detail of this amazing Village Inn is heart warming. Best south Devon B&B
We arrived after a grotty journey at this unique spot in the green tunnels of South Devon. We were made very welcome from the time we arrived to our sad last day.Craig and Leah made us more than welcome great evenings with an excellent menu variety all cooked to perfection by the landlord himself. The room was exactly what was required very clean spacious and a comfortable bed..Breakfasts again just great. Thank you both we would hope to come again as we have some of our friends moved into the village of Kingston.

Peaceful , pleasant village pub.
If you want to stay out of the way in a friendly village orientated pub with excellent accommodation look no further . Good beer , good food, quiet location , spacious bedroom and bathroom with friendly staff and villagers. The location is a little out of the way with typical narrow roads to get to the location but well worth it. The opposite to a chain hotel the television is small but the atmosphere is large. Only 3 bedrooms in a separate annex but a delight to stay in. Cool stone walls and opening windows , great shower and working Wifi. Would stay again both for business and pleasure.

Pleasant overnight stay
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We got the last room which was an extremely small double room, but clean and well appointed. Our only criticism apart from the size of the room was the lack of three pin plugs! We would have welcomed some fresh fruit for breakfast and a cereal other than Nut Crunch!

Rustic Charm In The Devon Countryside
A pleasant BbB located in a pub in the South Hams district of Devon. The rooms are on the small side but perfectly adequate and are situated in a separate building from the pub itself. A short drive from unspoilt beaches and beauty spots this is a good choice if you want to get away from it all for a few days and relax. Friendly staff and rustic charm.

Short stay
Only spent one night here whilst visiting family so room only used for sleeping and showering. Comfortable and well furnished. Fine for our needs. Lovely cooked breakfast the next morning. Meal in the restaurant the night before, for 13 of us. All served piping hot and at the same time. Would definitely stay again.

the Dolphin has been lovingly refurbished to a high standard.we stayed 3 nights and enjoyed lovely suppers and huge well cooked breakfasts .
