The property is quite secluded and down a very long and narrow gravel road, so getting to and from Viroqua and activities took longer than we anticipated. But the host provided detailed instructions for finding the place. We loved the seclusion and surrounding woods. The house is beautiful and smells like fresh cut pine. We enjoyed the musical instruments, the screen porch, hammock, swing in the woods on one of the hiking trails, all the wildlife (we saw a bobcat on the gravel road and lots of birds) and my daughters loved the loft for sleeping. It was hot the weekend we stayed, but the AC upstairs worked very well at keeping us comfortable downstairs. Our only complaint is that the coffee maker either needs a good cleaning, or replacing. It took FOREVER to brew, and even after an hour it was still sputtering. Also, the hot water in the shower has moments when it suddenly cools down, but then heats back up. Just a bit surprising. We'd never been to the Driftless Area, and were in awe of the beauty in the surrounding hills and valleys. We had dinner at the Driftless Cafe, and the St. Francis Hermitage, shopped in Viroqua, enjoyed live music downtown, did a Sip and Sketch at Second Nature at Reads Creek and hiked the property and Duck Egg County Park and Forest, and bonded over all of our adventures! We loved our stay and would book again. Thank you for the good memories made at this beautiful property!
