Is it OK to come to Maui? Yes, yes, yes.
Maui welcomes visitors, and your visit can be part of the island's continued recovery. Lahaina was devastated by the August 2023 wildfire and continues the long process of rebuilding. Come enjoy Maui, experience the aloha spirit, support local businesses, tip well, and wherever you go, travel with pono—with respect, awareness, and care for the people and places around you.
Now, the good stuff...
Oceanfront. Ground Floor. Twelve Units. That's It.
the Pikake A4 is a ground-floor, one-bedroom, one-bath oceanfront condo in Honokowai, West Maui—and truly a little slice of paradise.
the Pikake isn't a sprawling resort. It's a small, two-story, twelve-unit property with the relaxed, uncrowded feel of a boutique hideaway. From A4, step through your patio door, cross the lawn, and you're at one of Honokowai's few sandy beaches.
No elevators. No long hallways. No crowds between you and the ocean. Just Maui outside your door.
The views stretch across the Pacific, with Lānaʻi to the south and Molokaʻi to the north. Sunsets can be ridiculous, morning rainbows are frequent, and sea turtles are regular visitors. During winter and early spring, humpback whales put on a show right offshore—and sometimes there are whales, whales, whales.
My Home Away From Home
This isn't just a vacation rental; it's my home away from home.
A4 was remodeled in June 2023, including a redesigned kitchen that lets you cook while looking directly out at the ocean and sunset rather than staring at a wall.
The condo is particularly well suited for a couple, or a couple with one or two children, looking for a relaxed and uncrowded Maui experience.
The bedroom has a king bed, while the living area has a queen sofa bed. The condo also features updated living-room furniture, a 70-inch Smart TV, stainless-steel appliances, a tiled walk-in shower with frameless glass door, and a fully equipped kitchen.
For days at the beach or exploring the island, you'll also find beach chairs, an umbrella, boogie boards, a cooler, snorkel gear, and a laundry basket for your convenience.
No A/C — Just the Trade Winds
There is no air conditioning. Ceiling fans are located in the bedroom, living room, and patio area, and the trade winds generally do a pretty good job of keeping things comfortable.
If resort-style air conditioning is essential to your Maui vacation, A4 may not be the right fit. If falling asleep to the sound of the ocean and waking up with the Pacific just outside your door sounds better, you may have found your place.
Honokowai, West Maui
the Pikake is located at 3701 Lower Honoapiilani Road in Honokowai, within walking distance of markets, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and shopping.
And while Maui can feel a world away, getting here is easier than you might think. With expanded connectivity through Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, even a shorter Maui escape can be surprisingly doable.
Come slow down, swim, explore the island—or do absolutely nothing.
Listen to the waves, feel the trade winds, watch the sunset, and enjoy the Zen of doing everything or nothing at all in paradise.
