Lovely wee cabin, views out every window, my 4 teenagers enjoyed the mini golf and the climbing wall became challenge time!Great walks around the area too.
Such a nice weekend away , slow paced and enjoyed being in the mountains. The home was perfect including a fire which we had on for nearly the entire time. There is internet there / 3G/4G. Nice wee walks around perfect for young kids w a little playground.
The scenery was beautiful. The cabin itself was run down and needs a spring clean. Itâs not good value for money -we were disappointed in how little love has gone into the place.
Location was excellent, it was private, quiet and gorgeous views of the mountains. Enjoyed Monopoly and Card games. Will come back in Winter. Thankyou.
Great spot. Comfortable cabin. Had everything we needed. Mini golf site was very cool! We were a bit disappointed about the $10 per person charge to access the local walks (nothing to do with this listing) but the accommodation side was great.
Fantastic place to stay with a great host
Claudine is very informative of the area having been a resident local for many year's
We were there for the snow but pitty the norwest had beaten us to it tho plenty of other activities to do
The property was warm and cosy with the log fire heating up the cabin nicely. Our young kids loved the golf course and the bean bags.
Great views from the house as well as close to the ski field access road.
The property was as described - âno frillsâ it was a little dated and unfortunately the oven smoked when we tried to use it. Over all a comfortable stay thou.
The property was amazing. We got upgraded due to cluster flies in the property, and the transition was simple. Amazing communication and a great area to stay. Good views and walks around the area. Definitely recommend and will be coming back to the area.
Really cool place would love to stay there again especially in winter that would be wicked!! only downfall about listing is it says it's 20something kms from hanmer when it's really a hour drive away, the owner told us this when we arrived. Other then that 100% allgood!!
Perfect location, would suit active people as well as the lazy(us) we went for a walk up the road played in the small playground and around the track. Relaxed in front of the cosy fire and played boardgames. Wonderful sleeping arrangements, cosy space, tranquil surroundings. Got to enjoy the stags roaring nearby at night too
Great space for time away. Heating was a bit limited as sign asked us not to use fire in high winds and we were there on a windy day.
Would advise that the fireplace handle which was broken be replaced as with no insulation it is super hot and dangerous.
We enjoyed staying there.
Good little house making skiing up Mt Lyford super easy - Our kids loved the homemade mini golf course and playing on the rope swing. The fireplace makes the house lovely and warm with all the wood right there ready for use.
House needs some general TLC with a broken window, lots of broken kitchen utensils and beds could do with being replaced as they are old.
Our group had a great time up Mount Lyford. Very nice and picturesque spot. Cabin was well set up and stocked with things to do, and even includes your own small mini golf course and indoor climbing wall. Nice walk short walk up the road to a swimming hole and walking tracks. Would absolutely stay again. Thank you!

It was a last-minute booking at the only available place we could find within a couple of hours of Christchurch, the first public holiday weekend post-COVID-19 lockdown. We were simply desperate to get away from home, so were not being fussy, but this property was so wonderful we're definitely adding it to our getaway list! We particularly enjoyed the home-made mini-golf course in the garden. I had expected it to be freezing, but the house was well equipped with a wood fire (plenty of wood), lots of heaters and blankets as well if required (which we didn't) and not nearly as cold or draughty as I thought it might be. We enjoyed walking up to a frozen-over Crystal lake too. The whole Mt Lyford area is a welcome alternative to Hanmer Springs or Kaikoura, and I expect we'll be back one day.
