Great Week In the Bahamas

Many thanks to our kind hosts who supported us for the entire stay in Marsh Harbor. This was a family trip; we had four adults and two twelve year old children. The house is right on the Ábaco sea & the view, smell, and sounds are exactly what you want in a beach vacation. The house is quite spacious, with many different areas to congregate. The owners of the property assisted us with a rental car, and brokered a place to dock our boat a the Marsh Harbor marina, which is a walk away. (Note, you can also dock at the house.) They were immediately responsive by text, which was extremely helpful. Few points about the house/property: 1. You will want to rent a car to get around. 2. You can walk to Marsh Harbor Marina, and there is a restaurant there called the Jib Room. 3. You can walk or swim/paddleboard to mermaid reef for snorkeling. Location is fantastic, house is great. Many memories on this trip! Thanks

Beautiful Bahama Break

We arrived a little early, and the host allowed us to take advantage of the dock prior to our check-in time. The teenagers were able to jump right in and begin snorkeling around the dock. The house was exactly as described, and fit our group of 12 perfectly. We cooked in the kitchen every morning and night, and found all that we needed. All in all, the perfect spot for our group as we enjoyed all the cays close by via boat.

THE PERKY PELICAN IS TRULY A PIECE OF PARADISE

This was our second time in Marsh Harbour, but the first time staying at THE PERKY PELICAN. This was a special trip with my family to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Firstly, just know that the pictures you see on the VRBO app does not come close to describing the beauty and majestic views of God's creation from the sunsets, sunrises and starry nights at The PERKY PELICAN. The house was perfect for our family of 5 (4 adults and an 18 month old). Jack and Annika were our hosts and they were absolutely wonderful from conversing by phone, emails and texts from the moment we chose The Perky Pelican. They were awesome in coordinating our Boat rental with the captain and rental vehicle. They were always available before, during and after the stay. Jack was always checking on us to make sure everything was going well for this special rental. We have stayed at a number of VRBO rentals, but this place on Marsh Harbour was absolutely the best. If you decide to vacation at The Perky Pelican, you will not be disappointed but you will be amazed at this beautiful piece of paradise. We did not want to leave but we will return one day!

Perky Pelican is Perfect

We were a group of adults and teens (12 in total) and the house was perfect. Plenty of space to spread out and not be on top of one another. The teens enjoyed the paddle boards, ping pong, pool table, hot tub and more while the adults enjoyed all the quiet places to escape by ourselves. The kitchen is well stocked and had all the basic spices needed. Would recommend checking the supply of paper towels, dishwasher and laundry soap before heading to the grocery as we ran out over two days. What the house provides to start with is enough for a couple days but longer stays would want to stock up. The location was great in a residential area but within walking or biking distance to Marsh Harbour for shops and restaurants. Would definitely come back if we returned to the Bahamas!!

Awful Experience

Absolute terrible experience. Some friends and I rented this house 11/8/22-11/13/22. A few days prior to arrival, we learned that hurricane Nicole was supposed to hit Marsh Harbour on 11/8/22. The owner did not offer to delay our arrival or reimburse us. I understand they cannot control the weather, but I was hoping they would try to work with us, due to the circumstances. Two days prior our arrival, I confirmed with the owner that we would be arriving on 11/8/22 around 1:00pm. When we arrived, the owner’s staff members were in the house cooking themselves lunch and were totally surprised to see us. They laughed and said that they did not think we were coming anymore, because of the storm, even though I confirmed with the owner. The house was totally unprepared for us. All of the outdoor furniture was stacked in the living room and kitchen. Later that evening, the hurricane hit. The windows, doors, and roof leaked severely. The bottom floor was ankle deep in water. We had nine adults on the trip and four of them could not sleep in a bed, due to the first floor being unusable and flooded. Four men slept on the tile floor upstairs. We went without electricity, running water, or air conditioning for two days. We informed the owner of the situation and he said we were lying and there was not water in the home. During the storm, we did everything we could to limit the damage to the house. The owner was completely unappreciative and was the rudest host I have ever dealt with. He threatened to kick us out of the house, in the middle of a hurricane, because we left coconuts sitting on his outdoor concrete countertop. The owner verbally threatened us, cussed at us, and spoke inappropriately to us on several different occasions. After an argument with the owner, one of his employees came to the house wielding a very large knife. We felt completely unsafe and endangered the entire trip. The staff members would show up unannounced and just walk in the house. One day I was changing clothes in the master bedroom. I looked outside and one of the employees was watching me change. We felt like we were being watched the entire trip and had zero privacy. We were truly scared of the owner. Due to the events, I requested that the owner reimburse me for the two nights that we did not have running water, electricity, or air conditioning. The owner refused to do so. We paid a lot of money for the house and felt that it was a total scam. Do not rent from this host!

Perky Pelican was perfect!

The house is in really good shape with so many amenities to enjoy! Having bikes, paddle boards, floats, snorkeling equipment, a new dock to tie our boat up to, and the quality of the furnishings here made us never want to leave. The property manager, Rico was so nice and accommodating. He arranged transportation, returned our boat rental for us, found a fishing guide who cooked for us afterwards, made great suggestions for restaurants and boating excursions to the other islands, fixed the hot water heater and came to the rescue when there was an island power outage. We have vacation properties and would love to find someone as competent as Rico! The property owners were also very efficient in communication and providing a well stocked, tastefully decorated home. We highly recommend the Perky Pelican!
