We booked very last minute (3 nights ahead) and found this lovely condo still available. The following night I was in the ER with a partially dislocated hip. We called the owner (while still in the examination room!) to let him know I was injured and couldnât travel (weâre in Chicago), gave him absolute permission to put the property back on the market, and requested a voucher for a later date. We were happy to learn that heâd been able to rent it out for the nights we had booked, which was great. However, he never responded to our repeated requests for a future voucher. And VRBO didnât seem to be any help at all.
Medical emergencies happen all the time and you just hope that your fellow humans will treat you with the same understanding and fairness that you would treat others. Unfortunately, that didnât happen. So we (two seniors on fixed incomes) are out nearly $2500. We would not recommend dealing with this owner or VRBO.
(Most of the survey questions are meaningless if you didnât actually stay there - but they are required fields, so we went for 2 stars on most.)
