Beautiful property!
We loved the location, the view, and how close it was to the hot springs. The only small complaint i have is that it smelled like cigarette smoke from previous years. Other than that it was great!

We apologize that this guest thought the cabin smelled like smoke; the housekeeper does not smoke and previous guests did not smoke; however, the guests immediately prior did enjoy many fires in the firepit outback with the smoke perhaps entering the cabin that way.

Beautiful location!!
Our stay was filled with lots of snowy weather. It cleared out a few times and we were able to take in the beautiful views the cabin provided. What a wonderful view! We loved the privacy and how close it was to the hot springs!

Cozy Colorado
The location of this cabin is incredible. It’s nestled in between two mountain ridges, and the sunrises every morning were beautiful. We had deer in the yard in the evenings, and the stars at night were amazing because there is no light pollution in this small community. The cabin itself is very cozy and clean. The property manager, Jean, was great all throughout the rental process. If you’re looking for something a little off the beaten path, this is a great option.

Collegiate Peaks Getaway
I have always enjoyed the Nathrop area, specifically Chalk Creek. Jean’s cabin is in an ideal spot, very private and picturesque. Right beside the wildlife viewing area, we saw plenty of critters! The hot tub is a huge bonus, especially for star gazing. We will certainly be back!

Real privacy in a beautiful setting
This cabin is situated on a spectacular spot in Chalk Creek Canyon, with seemingly endless acres of National Forest land out the back, which provides absolute privacy and beauty in the rear of the cabin where the hot tub is. The cabin is well stocked with kitchen equipment. The furniture seems to have been upgraded from what is shown in the photos, and the living and dining areas are very comfortable. The two bedrooms we stayed in upstairs were likewise quite comfortable. The hot tub appeared clean and well-maintained; towels were provided. It was too windy for a fire but the outdoor fire pit was a nice place to sit and enjoy the view of Mt Antero in adirondack chairs made of skis. Directions and check-in were simple. We didn't have any reason to contact the house manager with questions, but she welcomed us by text after we arrived. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely return.

Issues with the driveway
Everything was great, the only complain we have is the drive way. It is so narrow it’s very hard to get a vehicle in there let alone a trailer. We almost hit one of our mirrors on the tree trying to back up the truck.

Stargazing, Serenity, and Solitude
The property was as pictured. I would not call the cabin modern as the appliances, faucets, etc were dated. However, the cabin was cozy and in a great area for hiking, running in to the small town of Buena Vista and wildlife watching. The stars at night were amazing. Jean was quick and helpful with communication. I gave this property 5 stars in all areas but for cleanliness. I want to clarify the property was not dirty - but in need of a bit of deeper cleaning (dust on the ceiling fan, sink drain not super clean, etc). Otherwise, the back deck view was pretty, the front porch was shaded in the evening and perfect of dining on or hanging out. Beds were super comfortable. We would stay again!

Very private and great place to explore Colorado
The property itself was very nice and private. We had some issues with Internet connection and bugs, but the property manager was very responsive when we informed of these issues. We were able to use it as a jumping off point to explore Aspen, Monarch, Cottonwood, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Great Sand Dunes as well as lots of hiking. Thanks for a great stay!!

The perfect mountain getaway!
This secluded little gem is situated right at the base of the mountains. It is everything described and more! The view from every window reveals mountains, quaking aspens, and no other houses! Each morning, as I watched the sunlight creep down the mountain, I heard birds singing and the snow melt creek run. The feather light breeze gently awakened me. It was so peaceful. The backyard therapeutic hot tub, surrounded by nature, was a welcome respite after hiking. We used it every day! This clean house had everything we needed in the kitchen and bathrooms. The beds was very comfortable. The many windows afforded plenty of cool fresh air. Amenities include wi-fi, landline phone, direct tv, video movies and even thoughtful placement of ketchup, Mayo, mustard, jelly and such in the fridge. The property manager, Jean, was easy to reach and was very accommodating in allowing us a late checkout. We will definitely stay here again!

Best week of our lives!
The cabin was perfectly homey. We saw wildlife every evening, from the hot tub. TONS to do in the area. We managed to fill 7 days worth of fun and still have time to enjoy the cabin. We will definitely be booking again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Cabin is fully stocked, which is nice. Most home rentals like this do not have things like trash bags, or dish soap, left for you.

Great Views!
The view from the back deck was breath taking! The back view made it feel like you were out it the middle of the mountains and miles from anyone. There were neighbors near the front, but the house was still very private and we never saw or heard them. House was clean and nicely decorated. Beds were comfy, and kitchen had everything we needed. We were lucky to see a small heard of deer come through the yard. Hot tub and fire pit were very nice extras. Would definitely recommend and really think it would be hard to beat the views! Hope to visit again sometime!

Like last year, we had a wonderful stay. The cabin offers incredible privacy and is very well-equipped. Jean went out of her way to ensure all of our needs were met. The bedding is comfortable. And the view is incredible, especially from the hot tub! We couldn't more highly recommend this cabin. On a side note, if you're not accustomed to a dry climate, you might want to bring humidifiers for the bedrooms. Enjoy!

Loved the views out the back porch/hot tub. Convenient but away from.other houses/felt secluded. The upstairs is definitely tight, but the listing mentions that. There is also a pretty intimidating house rental agreement to sign. But Jean was so accommodating that when I mentioned the coffee pot was broken, she had someone come and drop us off a new coffee maker on new years eve! Above and beyond for sure.

This rental far exceeded our expectations. The cabin is incredibly comfortable, well stocked and very clean. The views from the back of the cabin are breathtaking. Great hiking trails all around the area. The hot tub was relaxing to come back to after some long hikes in the snow. Would definitely love to come back in the summer/fall so we can get a better view of the milky way at night! Someone mentioned in another review that the listing may have seemed misleading - that there are neighbors. This is true- when you pull into the drive there appears to be another rental or two. No one was staying there so it wasn’t an issue. Even so, it is still incredibly private and I don’t think it would have made a difference. Loved our visit! We will be back!

Never disappoints
This was our family’s second time back to this cabin and this was one of our best vacations yet! Had mule deer walking through the property every day, got to feed the chipmunks at St. Elmo’s, got to go trout fishing at both lakes that are within a mile, experienced Mt. Princeton hot springs and so many more adventures! We all had an amazing time and can’t wait to go back next year!

Quiet, peaceful setting. My husband, 2 ground children and their spouses were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The third bedroom is actually on the stairway landing with no privacy. You must walk through that area to get to other bedrooms.. The bedroom plan worked since we are all family. But may not be suitable for all. The nighttime sky is breathtaking. Hope to return.

Secluded Cabin but Still Close to Everything
My husband, 2 year old son, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. We were looking for a place where we could feel a bit more like we were camping without losing too many amenities since we were traveling with our toddler and the location of this place definitely delivered. We saw tons of wildlife including deer and mountain goats and you just felt like you were in your own little forest away from everyone and everything and yet you're only 20 minutes away from a grocery store when you inevitably need more milk or wipes or whatever. The cabin was very cozy and met all of our needs. It does not feel like a cabin in a good way, (we've stayed in some pretty "rustic" cabins before and this is not rustic). We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone.

Our kiddos were as sad as my husband and me when it was time to leave. The fully stocked kitchen was an answered prayer and the hot tub was the highlight of each day. Secluded yet accessible, great hot tub with amazing views.
We had a wonderful stay. The Cabin is well appointed with fluffy towels, a well equipped kitchen, nice showers and comfy beds and a propane fireplace that heats the place up in minutes. The highlight is the large, high-end hot-tub which is in a very private spot with amazing views. We tubbed in the morning, afternoon, and under the night sky, just make sure to stay hydrated! Wifi is kind of slow but worked well enough to get by, and the TV had good satellite options, but it isn't the kind of place you go to surf the net or watch TV. Between the hot-tub, nearby hot-springs, St. Elmo ghost town, and lovely mountain towns like Buena Vista and Salida, and the mountain goat family that came by to chew the grass close-by, there is plenty of activities and entertainment.

We didn't realize when we booked that one of us would be sleeping between the bathroom and the two bedrooms, so my sister had no privacy. Great Getaway
The cabin was amazing! It was tucked away from the surrounding properties and felt very private. The views from the hot tub were absolutely perfect and just what we were looking for. The inside was nicely decorated and the kitchen fairly well equipped (needs a corkscrew though). The propane fireplace puts out a surprising amount of heat and is very cozy! Definitely plan to come back next year.

Wonderful private family getaway!
This cabin is hidden back in the woods and then opens up to amazing views! Views out the back windows and from the hot tub are gorgeous! We stayed right after a snow, so they kid-friendly sledding was perfect right outside. The fire pit was a fun addition and it's right near the hot tub. The 5 year old in our group loved this and watching for falling stars from the hot tub. The night sky is breathtaking! We also had a 9 month old with us and this cabin is very clean and baby friendly. They even have kid cups, plates and utensils. The pack and play is really clean and easy to set up, it was perfect for the baby. And, there is a dresser in the closet that is the perfect height and size for a makeshift changing table. Highly recommend for families with young kids!
