"We had a rather mixed experience at Wenns Chop & Ale House. While the location was great and the restaurant offered some great options, the room left much to be desired. The disappointment began when we entered our room. What we have booked was advertised as a deluxe apartment on Hotels.com. The pictures on the platform had promised a spacious room with a comfortable sofa and an impressive bathtub in the middle of the room, along with a view of the minster. The listing even mentioned a city view, instead, what we received was a dark and gloomy room. We discovered a sizable puddle of water beneath the bathtub shortly after moving in. We promptly informed a staff member who attended to it, but the incident left us uneasy, and we never used the bathtub during our short stay. Moreover, the room appeared dated and worn, with a view of a few old chimneys. Adding to the room's sad ambiance, an iron & ironing board were placed hapharzardly in one corner. The room, labeled as the King Studio, was definitely not a deluxe apartment. The staff member at check-in appeared tired or perhaps not very motivated. We wondered if this was the reason we were assigned a room that did not resemble the ones advertised. The central location and inviting pub were positives, most staff members were very friendly. The overall stay was acceptable but not what we have expected when we looked at the listing."
