The property was cozy. However,due to a faulty lock mechanism,we got trapped on the 5th floor balcony the first night.Emergency services called the host who was trying to help them get in the unit to get to us but ended up breaking a window with his consent due to the dead bolt being locked.Host had us use our insurance to pay for the window even though none of this would have happened if the lock wasn't rusted out .We asked for a partial refund for the huge inconvenience and were disappointed it was denied .The police said this incident was a result of owner negligence.We just wanted to be fairly compensated for the time we lost . VRBO told us that it was up to the owner to give any compensation and so both the owner and VRBO failed to make this unfortunate situation right. A situation that was solely due to a malfunctioning lock in the unit. We have photos of the lock but the app won't let me upload for some reason
