The sliding entry door had a serious manfunction. Needed to be slammed to shut it. Also the lock did not work.

Thanks for your feedback. What a shame you didn't let us know about your trouble with the door, we could have got that looked at and probably fixed on the spot or moved you into another unit. Hard to fix things that you are unaware of :(

Very friendly staff. Brought in firewood for us. Clean with plenty of towels, blankets etc. Great spot, right in town and awesome view of the mountain. Only criticism I have is that I wish there were curtains over venetian blinds in the upstairs room to block out extra light coming through. Otherwise a great stay. Thank you!!

Paper thin building
If your susceptible to noise don't stay. You can hear people's conversations from neighbouring rooms, the common area and any footsteps in the building. Creaky floors. Everything's old, not much space to move into the kitchen area. At least the other guests were nice, only positive really, plus location and cost. I'd only stay if you're really on a budget. Stove is probably 50 years old

Showers are all good, nice and hot just don’t have a shower when they’re all in use you’ll get a cold bust every now and again. Staff were polite and friendly as 😁 The Spa was nice and hot and close to the Main Street for food too Only downside were the blood stains on my sheet that I discovered when making the bed, which wasn’t a nice discovery. Although in saying that I would happily stay there again, but I would bring my own bedding next time.

The property was comfortable and suitable for our needs. There was no check in as such, rather a note on the door with our name and unit number. It suited me as that's all I really needed to know. The rubbish bin in the kitchen still had the previous guests rubbish in it so the unit didn't feel quite as clean as it could have been. The shower is brilliant and the unit was nice and warm, plus the fridge was quiet. Which in a studio is important.

Thank you for your feedback we appreciate it. I can only apologise for the rubbish bin, that must have been overlooked, at this very quiet time of year we do not man reception 24/7 but happy that you were ok with your check in.

Advertised so nicely online, we arrived only to discover that we weren't staying in the beautiful looking lodge, but instead a small dome type building in a tiny room that barely squuezed single bunk bed and single bed. Room wasn't very clean, beds were very uncomfortable. One powerpoint in the room. Had to pay $5 each for towels. What is probably a great little lodge in the booming winter/ski season, was unclean, uncomfortable and very over priced considering we stayed in off season.

Thanks for your feedback, shame you didn't let us know you were unhappy with your budget backpackers accommodation. We have many accommodation options available and could have remedied your offered you other alternatives if given the chance.

Not staying here again
The good: - Showers have good pressure and hot water. - Rooms are warm after you leave the heater on for a while. The bad: - The whole place is really dirty. - The common areas are really cold. - The place is very noisy (don't expect to get a good night sleep). - The price is the same (and even a bit more expensive) than other hostels in Ohakune which are A LOT better. Overall it was a very bad experience, I will not be going back here ever again.

Thanks for your feedback. If things were that bad I would have expected you to come and see us at reception. Yes the place can be cold in the communal areas as guests leave the entrance doors open. Dirty? If not up to your expectations, again come and see us so we can address things for you. Noise is hard to police, if we get a call regarding noisy guests we do come round and address this with them Overall, the backpackers is a busy place on the weekends and it takes all guests to be considerate of each other in order for everyone to enjoy their stay. We are one of the cheapest BP in town if you are smart enough to book direct.

The Alpine Lodge was a clean,comfortable and cosy backpackers-type accommodation just off the main street so within a short walk to all the shops, bus stop and the Carrot Adventure Park.

Super cheap backpackers, BUT very noise place (walls/roof TOO thin), dirty kitchen, carpet and super hard bunk bed. Overall, sorry, but I wouldn't recommend the place, we literally "slept" there and that was it. No customer facing engagement from staff.

The pros: The bed Linen, oh soooo comfy. Toilet is clean. Friendly staff. The Cons: Spider web in some areas, even we had a spider in our room. The top bunk no railing. Dangerous! We only found 1 socket for a room for 3, meaning if we switch on the heater, there will be no socket to charge for our devices. Summary: You got what you pay for, but seriously, the top bunk bed railing and only 1 socket in the room has to improve.

Small room, beds were comfy enough. Pretty loud but that's standard at most backpackers, just take earplugs. Would have liked to have seen recycling facilities, New Zealands clean, green image isn't very believable when all our rubbish gets thrown in the landfill.

Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate it, and yes our backpackers is cheap and communal area is basic but practical given the limited space available. We do try to recycle and offer somewhere for recyclables to be placed but it's up to the guests to put items in the correct place not our staff to sort through rubbish bins after their stay.

Chalet style unit, probably built in the 80's but well maintained and with nice new bathroom. Warm and welcoming. Very spacious for a family, but the staircase is very steep which may be a little tricky with very small children. We didn't make use of the restaurant but it looked nice.

Careful what you book deceiving photos
Be very careful booking this place. I was travelling with my 13 year old son and needed one night stop to break the drive. Didn't need anything special so booked here because it was cheap and we both like thai food. Ended up in a filthy backpacker shed behind the motel. The motel units looked ok but overpriced compared to others in the area. Thai food was really good.

The room was not as it is in the picture, picture shows a hotel room with a double and a single bed, on arrival we were told we were in a backpackers room that had two bunks, disappointing. If I knew it was that it would be fine but photo is deceiving.

Thank you for the feedback, sorry that you didn't get the accommodation you were expecting, in the booking that you made it detailed that it was a backpackers Dorm room with bunk beds, & shared facilities, on the website there are 22 photos of the whole complex including Motel units,Townhouse unit, plus Backpackers photos 9,10,13 & 19. It's a decent enough place to stay there for a night or two. We used the backpacker section which was more or less comfortable. Not perfectly clean but we didn't really expect that either. For backpacker standards quite alright.
