Sweet place
I love staying at the cottage. Everything I need is there in the location weasel fabulous. The bed was very comfortable and rooms were larger than expected. I would definitely stay again.

Amen on that ! If you want to get away from the city, this is a great option and still have the niceties of fast internet, TV, phone , market nearby and a beautiful ocean view - All at a great price.

Escape from the City
Just an awesome little cottage away from the city and traffic. If you’re looking for beaches and nightlife, this may not be an option for you. Great host, clean and comfortable.

There is a beach across the street which is very popular in our area but if you have a disability - the steps down to the beach can be a challenge. Most people have no problem w/ the rocky stairs and many people swim w/ the dolphins at this beach. There are warm ponds at the other beach nearby as well

Yes, if you want to get away to a beautiful part of the Big Island - you’ve found us. In addition, things are about to get better as the county is reconnecting the main road between Rte 132 and Kalapana Kapoho Bch Rd. Newly created beaches may be accessed.

Great remote cottage
The cottage was adorable, and even nicer than the photos. Clean, comfortable, and GPS takes you right there. I knew it was remote, but it’s about 20 mins to the nearest town, and even that’s not really big. There are 4 or 5 places to grab a bite to eat (not counting chains) in town, and there’s a small market and restaurant at the end of the road about 2-3 miles from the cabin. The beach across the street is a bit of an adventure to find access to, and there’s a steep path to get there. But it’s doable. If you’re looking for a private getaway, definitely consider this one!

Great location and very comfortable.
This cottage had an awesome open living room, a comfortable couch, and good airflow. The bedroom is nice and my friend said the bed was really comfortable as well. The kitchen situation is peculiar for sure, but manageable. It’s outside in a small shed and only has a small two burner hot plate thing, but there is also a large propane grill. So if you plan on cooking a big meal it’s advisable to cook before the sun goes down (shed is dark as we discovered) or use the gas grill. Honestly though it felt like camping and was fun to cook this way. Overall, the host was great, location was beautiful, and I the cottage was lovely. I would definitely stay there again. Thanks!

Great location!
This is an older house, as listed, and across from the beach, also as listed. But you can still hear the ocean, and the the kitchenette is perfect. I loved being across the street from the beach and just down the street from the warm ponds. I did have issues with the internet, but the owners were responsive and stated that issue is being worked on. I highly recommend this place.

We agree that it is a great area - although semi- remote however we and many others feel our cottages are located in the most beautiful part of the island. Everyone has heard about Mauis’ ‘ road to Hana’ - well our cottage is located on Hawaiis’ own rad to Hana and it’s called ‘ Kalapana- Kapoho Bch Rd. It’s utterly ‘ gorgeous’.

We looked in to the matter and have replaced the cleaner . In addition, we have established a new quality control policy. Cleaners are now required to take photos of their work after cleaning a cottage when un- supersized.

Perfect place to relax and recharge
Our entire stay was perfect. The property and cottages are picture perfect - everything you would expect Hawaii to be. Our cottage was clean and comfortable and worked perfectly for us (Myself, my grown daughter and her boyfriend). This is where you go to disconnect from the world and just enjoy breathing.... living.....we truly did not want to leave. Proximity to Kehena Black Sand Beach was awesome - we were there all but one day of our stay. Pahoa Village was close enough to be convenient for food/necessities. Andre and Susan were very welcoming - it was like going to visit family. And every guest amongst the three cottages on the property during our stay were friendly as well. I'm hoping to return to this property again soon!

If you want to ‘ get away’ from city life - this is the place . It’s a semi- remote area of Kalapana that you may truly enjoy. Can’t tell you how often we hear ‘ wished we would have stayed longer!

A beautiful getaway
Where to start?! The listing is 100% accurate. We arrived shortly after sunset so we couldn’t quite get the view of where we had driven to in daylight. The property is cute, clean, and has most everything you may need. There is A/C in the bedroom but you probably won’t need it. The water for showers is lovely and hot. The owners were responsive and helpful with tips and things to see and do. But also never bothered us unless we asked which provided for a nice private stay. As other reviews and the listing confirm, in this unit there is no stove or oven but there is a refrigerator, hot plate, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster oven. Apart from that you have everything you need. The sounds in the nighttime air from coqui frogs was magical. We awoke to watch the sunrise directly in front of the unit on the front deck/patio. We spent everyday of our 6 day, 5 night stay on Kehena black sand beach and enjoying the Puna region sights, visiting Pahoa village and friends in Volcano. We would definitely book another stay in this unit, the lilac unit, or the Walehouse unit. We fell in love with the island 🏝 . Thank you Susan and Andre!

Absolutely! If you come to see lush green vegetation, black sand beaches for kids and adults, clean air, friendly people w/ the aloha spirit and interesting surroundings - then come to our side of the island. There is more to The Big Island than just Kona.

Sweet yellow cottage highly recommend!
From moment we walked in Hawaiian music was playing for our welcome and we sensed the caring touch of our hosts in details of decor, cleanliness and notes left guiding us for an overnight stay. My husband wanted to stay another night even without consistent WiFi .. serenity is this space!

Great place to stay
Great place to stay if you want to checkout the other side of the island. Where the locals say, "it's the real Hawaii". We were also told Wednesday nights are the best but we were unable too experience a Wednesday night. We did enjoy the nice, well equipped, cozy cottage where you can really get away from it all, at least life on the other side of the island, for a little while. If that's what you are looking for.

A delightful quiet property right down the street from the beach access.
A pleasant apartment with air-conditioning in the bedroom. It doesn't have a comprehensive kitchen but adequate for coffee, breakfast and light meals. Pretty remote but plenty of off street parking. The bed was comfortable. Andre called me and verified my arrival and left a light on for me! I noticed while walking around the property that a small plant was growing in the rain gutter that led to the cistern for drinking water. No taste but I wonder if it should be removed.

Very Pleasant
We only spent one night at the cottage but it was a very pleasant and cozy stay. Nice furniture and decor, very quiet location, spectacular view once you crossed the street, and cute geckos to watch as we enjoyed our breakfast on the lani. Andre and Susan were very helpful and answered our questions quickly. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your wonderful cottage. I know you are in no threat of the lava now and we hope it stays that way so we can visit again!

A big mahalo Robin! Yes, Kehena Beach is a safe and beautiful spot out if the way of the lava flow. The area is back to normal as the beach was packed again on Sunday with locals fir the famous drum circle. Uncles and the Kaimu Corner Store have opened and the Heleon Bus has returned to our area. We are so proud of the strong locals and Hawaiians in the area, truly the most resilient people on the planet. Aloha!

Beautiful place, gorgeous area!
I was hesitant about staying in a place so close to the active fissure, but the areas were all blocked off about a mile away from the fissure and there were people all around this area. We ended up arriving on what we thought was our check in date, but we'd actually, on accident, booked for the following night. Andre accommodated us and got us right in. So thankful for that! The place is cute and setup with all the essentials you'd need. Loved the sound of the rain on the roof! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great place right off the water, listen to the waves crash as you fall asleep!
We enjoyed the place quite a bit! The cabin was large, well appointed and very clean. It was a huge bonus that we could do laundry. The downside is the inability to cook in the kitchen but we knew that going in and using the toaster oven in the common space/laundry area wasn’t that inconvenient. Great jumping off place to hike in the lava, snorkel in tide pools and make runs to Hilo. Would definitely stay again!

We try our best to maintain a good clean space for our guests. Most guests really love this area and wish they would have stayed longer 🤓 The pictures don’t really do the place justice because it’s nicer and larger than it appears online.

Wonderful cozy home! Will stay again.
We stayed in the ocean front cottage and loved it! The house was very cozy and inviting. It was also very clean which we were greatful for (unlikely the condo we reserved in Kona). We met Andre on our 1st night and he was super sweet and helpful. I live in Oahu and will definitely stay here again.

Great cottage in a great location
Although we were only able to stay for a short visit, we loved the cottage. It was neat, clean and had a great view of the ocean. We were a short distance from the lava viewing area and enjoyed breakfast at Uncles, right up the road. It was terrific to be able to do a quick load of laundry in the communal washer and dryer. Very relaxed and laid back - would love to return and spend more time.

Breathtakingly beautiful beach experience.
My husband I absolutely loved our stay. The location with Ocean views and access across the street was convenient. We also enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. Our accommodations were comfortable and Andre was very cordial with informTion regarding the community. Be were even serves fresh coconut water from their coconut trees as a bonus. We hope to return in the near future.

Wonderful Stay!
Very relaxing and wonderfully clean cottage. Enjoyed the black sand beach (Kehena Beach) across the street. How convenient is that!? We found it very easy to navigate the area from Uncle's 3 miles away to historic Pahoa only 15 mins away. Well done by Andre and Susan.
