We stayed at Gulf Crest 205 for a long weekend in February. The unit is spacious, the second-floor location offers great beach and pool views, and the large balcony is a highlight. The kitchen is updated, WiFi and TVs worked well, and the layout is functional for families.That said, there were several concerns. When we arrived, there was a strong musty/mildew odor. It improved after airing out the unit, but the smell had permeated the linens. Combined with the laundry situation (noted below), we felt it was necessary to rewash bedding and towels before using them.There was no hand soap in either bathroom or kitchen, which made hand washing difficult until we went to the store. Each bathroom had a nearly empty roll of TP with no backup rolls. The owner apologized and said this was a cleaner oversight, but it could have been an issue if not caught immediately.Both bathtubs also needed a more thorough cleaning.Although the listing advertises in-unit laundry, the dryer was full of sheets and towels when we arrived, and the washer was set to an “express wash” cycle, which raised concerns about whether linens were being washed on an adequate cycle between guests. No detergent was provided (not necessarily expected), but together this made us question the thoroughness of the turnover process.The hosts were polite and responsive. With more consistent cleaning and stocking of basic essentials, this could easily be a five-star stay.
