À propos de cet hébergement

Buffalo River Glass House · Jacuzzi · 28 Acres

  • A 3,200 sq ft glass house by James Lambeth, the Prix de Rome winning architect who consulted for NASA and the U.S. Department of Energy. Floor-to-ceiling glass on 28 wooded Ozark acres with roughly a quarter mile of private river frontage. Soaring wood ceilings, walls that vanish into the trees, a 4-seat hot tub under the stars, a fire pit, and a path down to the water. Sleeps 10. Minutes to Ponca, Steel Creek and the Buffalo National River. A true 1-of-1. Homes like this don't come up.

NEW TO VRBO, NOT NEW TO GUESTS. Since opening in July 2026 this home has earned 4.9 out of 5 across its first reviews on other platforms, and our Fort Worth home holds a perfect 5.0 with a guest favorite badge. Guests tell us the same thing every time: the photos do not do it justice.

THE STORY: This house was designed by James Lambeth, the Arkansas architect the world knew as a pioneer of solar design. A University of Arkansas professor, winner of the 1979 Prix de Rome in architecture, and an energy consultant to NASA and the U.S. Department of Energy, Lambeth built homes that work with the sun instead of against it. This is one of them. He set it on the hillside so the glass wall catches the light and the forest, the wood ceilings hold the warmth, and the living room feels like a treehouse. You are not renting a cabin. You are staying in a piece of Arkansas architecture.

THE HOUSE: 3,200 square feet on one private hillside. A glass-and-wood great room open to the forest on three sides, full kitchen, dining for the whole group, three bedrooms, two baths, and laundry. Bedroom 1: king plus two twins. Bedroom 2: queen plus twin. Bedroom 3 (loft): bunk bed. Living room: an extra wide couch that sleeps one. Sleeps up to 10. The house, hot tub, fire pit, river frontage and walking trails are private to your group. A small guest cabin on the land is rented separately, so another small group may be staying there during your visit; it has its own entrance and parking.

OUTSIDE: a spacious 4-seat hot tub with massage jets and LED lights, a fire pit, covered porch and decks over the valley, a propane grill, and a telescope for the dark sky. Zero light pollution; the stargazing is unreal. Deer move across the acreage, and walking paths lead down to the river (an easy 5-minute walk, or drive our private trail right to the water). No direct river view from indoors; you are surrounded by forest and mountain in every direction.

FAMILIES: outdoor games for game night, including cornhole, a giant Jenga-style stacking tower, ring toss, and a hook-and-ring toss game.

FALL: Come in October for peak foliage. Floor-to-ceiling glass gives you a front-row seat to Ozark fall color without leaving the couch.

THE RIVER: The river runs along the property and rises and falls with the rain, and at times it runs low or goes completely dry. Wade or float on-property when it's up, wander the gravel bars when it's low. Bring your own kayaks, tubes, or fishing gear (gear isn't provided); for a bigger float, the Buffalo National River is about 30 minutes away with local outfitters. There is no lifeguard. Swimming, wading, floating, or being on the riverbank is at your own risk, for every guest, not just children. Swim only at the river access where the "swim at your own risk" sign and the life ring are. You assume all risk of water activities, including injury, drowning, and property loss, and you release and hold harmless the Owner and Faith Holdings LLC from any claims arising from use of the river. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times near the water.

GETTING HERE: The last several miles are unpaved county road. The drive in is beautiful, an experience in itself. PLEASE COME IN A TRUCK OR SUV. An all wheel drive car with good ground clearance, like a Subaru Outback, also does fine. The drive in ends with a steep hill of loose gravel. Take it slow, especially after rain. Download offline maps before you lose cell signal, and try to arrive before dark. Stock up in Jasper on the way. Harps has groceries and gas. Dollar General is at 405 E Court St. There are no stores and no gas near the house. The home runs on a private deep well. The water has a light natural mineral character from the limestone. That is part of what makes this place special. Guest house and barn are not included.

PARKING: the large flat gravel area in front of the main house.

WINTER (November to March): snow, ice and a slow gravel county road are normal winter conditions here. Please check the forecast and plan your trip for them. Normal winter weather does not change the cancellation policy.

This house was spotless!! Incredibly comfortable and spacious. And perfect for our girls’ weekend. The separate sleeping wings gave us privacy while the central living area was perfect for talking, eating, playing games, laughing, crafting…either indoors or out! We really could not have found a better house for our get together. Thank you!
