The check in for this home was quick and easy. I was impressed with how the kitchen was stocked. There were plenty of pots, pans, cooking utensils, plates and cups. I also liked the added safety feature of having a switch on the counter top that allowed you to turn off the dishwashers and garbage disposals. I did not have to worry about our grands accidentally turning on the appliances. We found the bedrooms, bathrooms and powder rooms to be well stocked with all the necessities for the week. We had one minor issue, we could not find the ping pong balls or balls for the pool table. The owners were very quick to respond and sent staff over to give us a supply.

Property was clean inside but had a rodent infestation problem which chewed on our food stored in pantry. Owner did not have a pest control company rather he sent glue traps via Amazon. Never caught rodents. Outside porches and boat house area were filthy bird droppings ad spiders. Water or lighting available in boathouse.

Graduation weekend

We stayed at this beautiful lake house for a graduation celebration, and everything was absolutely perfect. The space was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it feel like a home away from home. The views of the lake were stunning, and the atmosphere was so peaceful, exactly what we needed to relax and enjoy the occasion. It was the ideal setting to make memories with family and friends. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Highly recommend!

Awesome house!

8 adults and 4 kids under 12. Great location with easy access to the lake. Kitchen has everything we may have needed and more. Many water toys and lots of space for kids in the house. Owners were quick to respond to any questions!

Wonderful Family Celebration

Our family has vacationed at SML every summer since 2009. This was our first stay at The Castle. It was in a great location, provided ample space, and many helpful amenities enjoyed by all. I reached out to the owner while there and he came by to address some things! He was super responsive to communications. We will definitely consider staying there again next year!

Fantastic family reunion Home

I had the most wonderful, memorable stay at this lovely huge home on Smith Mountain Lake with 4 of my five children and their families. 19 of us including 11 children all under the age of 8 years down to our newest at 2 weeks old. We rented a pontoon boat a couple of jet skis, a wakeboard and a huge 3 seater tube. We made the most of our water activity time and everyone slept well at night! The home has a great kitchen, wonderful table seating and comfortable family room for enjoying each other’s Company any time of the day or night. The seven bedrooms and bathrooms afforded each family privacy to escape the crowds to their own space when needed, or when little ones had to nap. We all enjoyed the porch for sunrises and sunsets, the fire pit for s’mores and the fabulous first and top floors for the children to play. The first floor has a ping pong table, pool table and foosball table and the top floor had a Stage, puppets and doll house. Every aspect of this house was enjoyed! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Our Fantastic week at Smith Mountain Lake

Just returned home from a wonderful week at The Castle on SML with entire family. The house was wonderful, large enough for all 16 of us and for those to escape if needed. Easy access to the lake with a wonderful dock. Plus there is shade on the dock. An awesome Rec rm where hours were spent in the evening playing games, pool, ping pong. The Owners are so easy to contact and are wanting to please if you have any needs. Would highly recommend staying at this home. You will be very pleased:)

The Castle was great, except!

Everything was good as expected, except the kitchen utensils! The hosts were very accommodating, and easy to get in touch with. We however were very disappointed in the kitchen utensils! Not on par with the overall home and property. Lacking even the basics, like measuring cups, measuring spoons, proper bakeware. What was available was pretty nasty, and seriously needs replaced! Thus being our only complaints.

Great Vacation

We had a great stay at "The Castle". Nice place, lots of space and rooms. The elevator was especially helpful for my 89 year old father in law. Great game room. Spacious kitchen and dining so works well for big group. Lots of time spent at the dock utilizing the kayaks and paddle board. The deck with it's view of the lake was a great gathering place at the end of the day.

Epic Lake Week

The Castle is a great house loaded with solid amenities. There is plenty of space for everyone. The dock equipped with 3 kayaks and a stand up paddle board is loads of fun. The location makes it easy and safe for kids to swim and enjoy the lake. Docking the rental pontoon boat is easy too. The hosts are exceptional and respond immediately to any questions. Great Family Vacation House

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here on Smith Mountain Lake! Our family included toddlers all the way up to the elderly and there was something for everyone's interests. The kitchen is well equipped for large groups and meals, there is plenty of space for families to spread out, and lots of games/toys to keep everyone entertained. The hosts were very responsive and helpful with anything we needed before, during and after our stay. Thank you so much! We hope to return.

Wonderful stay for a extended family vacation

Overall we had a wonderful stay at the Castle. The views were amazing! With 5 days of rain, we really appreciated the extra space to spread out, watching movies in the theater room, working on puzzles, playing games and billiards. We also loved the big tub in the evening. We enjoyed the bikes but there were only 2 adult bikes so we had to take turns. We also loved having the kayaks and SUP as well. One recommendation is to remove some of the deck furniture so there’s more room to sit and relax without feeling cramped. The kitchen was very nice but we missed having measuring cups for baking and there wasn’t a lot of room in the cabinets to store food. Overall we had a wonderful time and the home was beautiful.

Great Vacation!

The house is awesome. All bedrooms were comfortable. All bathrooms well equipped. The elevator made access to all the floors easy. The host has bikes, SUP and kayaks available but our family chose to rent a boat to make the lake vacation complete. Beautiful neighborhood and scenery all around.
