I was a frequent guest at the former Ace Hotel now the Clyde Hotel by Kasa. With the acquisition Kasa, kept the unique barracks inspired furnishing from the unique Ace Hotel but stripped the hotel of all of it's charm. We stayed in the king suite and the room was a bit run down: warm empty mini fridge, broken window shades, dead dried out house plants, loud heater, sub par art added, dirty brochures. The rooms are mostly the same but without the same amenities. No longer are robes offered, no wool blanket, no mini bar, no MALIN+GOETZ soaps, the snack room with complementary coffee, oats, and snacks is also gone. It's bare bones... After the somewhat rude interactions with the front desk staff (who don't want to be bothered) and recognizing that there is no security at the hotel, we will no longer be visiting our once beloved Ace hotel. Homeless folks were easily entering the site and hanging out on the lobby couch and using the hotel's bathroom. The streets are loud at night, wear the supplied ear plugs if you stay here. We did enjoy the Friday night busking saxophonist who performed near Powell Books and was heard from the room - that was an unexpected treat!
