I booked and paid through Expedia for one night. I decided to extend the stay one night and was told, when I called the hotel to book another night through expedia for a similar room. I did not pay for the 2nd night because I wanted to make sure I could stay in the same room.
When I checked in the 1st night, the front desk demanded payment for the 1st night, even though I gave them the confirmation number from expedia that showed I had already paid.
The front desk would not extend my stay using the the 2nd expedia booking. They required me to check out before 11am and then re-register for the 2nd night. I told them that defeated my entire purpose, as I was going to up very late and the reason I booked the 2nd night was so that I could sleep past 11am. They let me stay in the room, but I had to get up, come down and pay before 11am.
When I got home, I checked my VISA transactions and discovered that I was billed both by expedia and by the Travelodge for the 1st night.
I called to try to resolve this and the desk clerk told me I would have to get the refund from expedia - ?
I sent all the documents and an email to the hotel manager, and I'm waiting to hear back.
My stay in the city was for medical reasons - surgery for a loved one - and I was not emotionally well enough to fight with the desk staff or change hotels. This hotel needs to do better.
