Quillan

This is a very comfortable, well-equipped and well-located house. If you want easy access to shops, bars, restaurants etc then this is perfect. The views from the platform above the main door are spectacular and it's a great place for breakfast and dinner. Communication with the host was clear and efficient and everything went very smoothly from start to finish. The wider area is a great place to visit - there are lots of good swimming spots - including the excellent lake in Quillan itself and the lake at Arques, spectacular scenery, castles, good cycling and walking and its not too far to get to Perpignan or Carcassone (1 Euro on the bus!) or to head up into the Ariege and visit the caves at Niaux and Tarascon.

Schönes Ferienhaus in toller Lage

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus mit tollem Blick über die Dächer von Quillan und auf den Hauptplatz (Place de la Republique) des schönen Ortes. Zentral und trotzdem ruhig gelegen, mit gehobener Ausstattung.

Das Haus ist gemütlich und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt, auch wenn an einigen Stellen durchaus Renovierungsbedarf vorhanden ist.

Wunderschöne und herrlich gelegene Ferienwohnung

Die Wohnung in Quillan ist an herausragender Stelle am Hang unterhalb der Burg gelegen und bietet von einer der Terrassen einen direkten Ausblick auf das Treiben auf dem Place de la République. Die Wohnung ist sehr liebevoll ausgestaltet und bietet viel Komfort, auch wenn das Wetter einmal nicht mitspielt und man sich im Haus aufhalten möchte. Küche und großer Esstisch laden zum Kochen und Genießen ein. In Quillan selbst gibt es nicht nur an Markttagen gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Der Ort ist zentral gelegen, so dass sich viele Möglichkeiten für Ausflüge ergeben, die man während eines einwöchigen Aufenthaltes kaum wahrnehmen kann.

We loved Clarkey’s Quirky Cottage

Beautiful period cottage ideally situated in Quillan with incredible views over the town & the surrounding mountains. On the Sentier Cathare with Quillan Castle towering overhead. Stunning!!!

Licarion atypique très sympathique

Pour ceux qui aiment les logements atypiques ce logement est parfait. Plusieurs ambiances grâce aux étages et terrasses. À 5 nous n étions pas à l étroit. La vue sur quillan est très belle et bien situé pour partir en randonnées. Beaucoup de choses à voir dans la région. Coup de cœur pour la randonnée du labyrinthe vert à nebias. Magnifique et accessible pour les enfants dès 4 ans. Très bon séjour à quillan.

Prachtige lokatie - huisje verdient nog wat aandacht.

Ligging van het huisje was prima. Prachtig uitzicht en vlak bij het centrum en de rivier. De inrichting was compleet. We mistten wel een dienblad. Wat zeker handig zou zijn met een huisje met drie verschillende plekken om buiten te zitten. Er was één bed te weinig opgemaakt. En we mochten zelf ook een douchegordijn ophangen. Het huisje was niet zo schoon en rook niet erg fris. Er was geen WiFi en daardoor ook geen tv. Dit werd een dag voorafgaand aan de vakantie gecommuniceerd met de melding dat de laatste dag van onze vakantie Wifi weer zou werken. Dit was niet het geval. Plafondventilator had te weinig toeren om koelte te brengen. Al met al een huisje wat nog wel wat aandacht mag hebben maar op een prachtige lokatie ligt.

Séjour très agréable

La maison est charmante et très agréable. Rien ne manque sauf peut être une table pour 4/6 personnes afin de prendre des repas sur la terrasse. Très bien située près du village pour les courses du quotidien et au centre des sites à visiter et randonnées pour le plaisir. Par grosse chaleur des volets ou rideaux occultants seraient bienvenus pour garder un peu de frais dans la maison

Super!!!

Agréable moment dans ce lieux reposant, la maison est grande, fonctionnelle, avec de belles pierres qui gardent la fraîcheur pour des moments de repos. Tout est parfait, les petites terrasses pour prendre le temps de regarder la vue, l'accés, même si il se fait par une petite ruelle est pratique car peu loin des places de parking, et le logement est à deux pas du centre ville. Merci encore pour ce moment de repos.

Brilliant

This cottage is absolutely beautiful. Well equipped with plenty of room for my husband and I and our two teenage children. The house is in a perfect location minutes from the bustling little town. Our highlights were the market on Wednesday morning and the Fetes de Quillan which involved a bike race and loads of live music over several days. We couldn’t recommend it more highly. An absolute gem of a find.

Location, Location, Location

Simply a stunning location for exploring the town and the area. This is a cozy, well equipped apartment that is the first I have stayed in where the family have fought over volunteering to do the washing up ( in spite of the dishwasher) just to see the view over the mountains and the town square.

Wonderful cottage with a fabulous view of the town

The property was exactly what we needed. A great place to explore a part of France we hadn’t been to before. The small elevation of the cottage gives you a great spot to watch the comings and goings below in the square. Facilities in the cottage allowed us to cook most nights and enjoy some wine and games around the dinner table. Would recommend very highly.

The cottage was just right for our family of four (two teanage boys inc). The property was clean, comfortable and very well equipped for cooking meals in. The outside space is good with a spacious patio which gets plenty of sunshine and a deck area at the side of the cottage too. We had plenty of living space to spread out in and having two good size bathrooms was handy. Parking was easy, with plenty of free spaces just down the path (less than a minute away). We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful location with magnificent views of the town, a real gem of a property.

We were new to this part of France and when booking the from the property pictures overlooking the towns square did it for us however they could not replicate the real view and location of this house which were wonderful in every respect. Our family loved the fact we were in the middle of a community, it was wonderful to visit the Le Palace each evening for a cool drink before dinner. Our hosts were very quick in reply to all our communications, we would have no issue in recommending this house to use a quiet retreat for relaxing or as a base to explore this small part of France. Magnifque.

The Cottage with a fantastic view.

We enjoyed staying at the property and enjoyed the roof terrace overlooking the town of Quillan and the river. It is an ideal place to explore the fascinating history of the Cathars, there is a lovely little lake outside the town to cool off in. Carcassonne is about 1hr away which is a must!

Great view & good location

The property is in a very good location with restaurants, cafes, a small supermarket & a very good bakery just a few minutes walk away. The views of the river, old town & mountains are exceptional. The kitchen is compact & well-stocked for everything you need to prepare meals. It's even a joy to do the washing up with the wonderful views out of the kitchen window! There is plenty of space in the property. As there was only 2 of us, I can only comment on the main bedroom. The bed is a good size & comfortable. The bedding could possibly do with upgrading. It is nice to be able to step out onto the balcony straight from the bedroom & the main bathroom next to it is a good size. I am not sure whether we were the first guests of the season, but the property could have done with an airing, as it smelt a bit musty when we arrived. It is a great location for walking, with plenty of routes from the town. We enjoyed hiking up into the mountains, but if you aren't feeling energetic, there is a nice path following the river, through a park and along to the next village. We did have problems with the front door lock, which was a bit stressful whilst we tried to contact people to get it fixed. Luckily there is a 2nd door that can be padlocked, so it didn't stop us from getting out. All in all, we have a lovely holiday & can definitely recommend the property & the area.

Perfect Location

Three of us stayed in Quillan for one week and for us the location was perfect to explore the area. The villa was comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the terrace looking down on the town square. It was furnished nicely with comfortable couches and a good sized dining table. A slightly larger terrace table would have allowed meals there. For us parking was easy and the ramp up to the villa was an easy climb. A number of supermarkets were within walking distance, also restaurants. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

Cosy, comfortable, excellent location

Brilliant location, easy drive from Carcassonne but Toulouse or Perpignan airports so close as well - or get the train to Quillan. Parking always safely available, the property was easy to find, Debs & Clarkey were perfect hosts & provided so much info. & extra photos before we arrived - even suggesting local supermarket & shops to drop in at on the way - though they provide a well stocked store cupb’d & even some wine (on a replace what you use basis) what more could you ask for?! The accommodation description doesn’t let you in on the surprise of how much space you have & good bedrooms/bathrooms - we kept losing each other around the house. All furnished to such a high standard with nice linen & towels. We like to eat out & cook when we are in France, the kitchen works perfectly & the view of Quillan from the open window is second to none, with the church bells, birdsong & tumbling river all you hear - so peaceful. Wander up the Chateaux ramparts for an even wider view of the valley town & mountains - walks lead out from here, if you are more adventurous, there’s a great bundle of info. provided or the really friendly Tourist Information in town will let you choose walks around town & the valley or all of the Pyrennes & Corbieries destinations on your doorstep. We had an epic day driving via Arques upto Chateteaux Villerouge Termes & back via the hills & gorges to Chat De Peyrepertuse & Maury - back home via Axat - a real experience of the area in one easy day. Many more trips out from here are so good as Quillan is at the heart of such a special region. Quillan is the friendliest town, everyone so welcoming from a rummage in the market to the local patisseries/boulangeries on an early morning, go to the boucherie/charcuterie on the corner of Rue de la Michance & Blv Jean Bourrel - enjoy a great welcome, chat & superb home prepared produce - try their local Pyrenne Sausisson roasted in the oven!! We ate out at the La Galerie which was so so good & excellent value for delicious food & wine. Pizzeria Les Platanes is good as well, more local & hustle bustle - entrecôte & salad, as well as our pizzas top class - both restaurants locals & visitors, super friendly service - both fine with children. One of our party is a vegetarian amply catered for with interesting dishes at all the places we visited. Drinks at Cafe Du Fleuve & La Palace in Place de la Republic 3 mins saunter from the house at any time of the day! Execellent!

Stunning View Indeed

Outstanding location above the village. The view from the kitchen sink made me want to volunteer to do dishes all week. Kitchen facilities good enough to produce meals 3 nights for 3 people. The Palace and Fleuve restaurants down in the square provided the other 2. Hot weather meant all the windows open so we had a bright, airy, open space to spend the week. Excellent place to spend our vacation. Thanks Debs and Clarkey!
