Autumn is one of the best times to experience the Verde Valley. Wake to crisp mornings and coffee from the rocking chair on the front porch, then wander down the nearby path toward Beaver Creek and the Verde River corridor—less than a five-minute walk from the home.

Spend the day exploring Sedona’s red rock trails, following the changing leaves through Oak Creek Canyon, visiting local wineries and tasting rooms, or discovering the small towns of the Verde Valley. Then come home to Heartstone Retreat, where thick stone walls, peaked wood ceilings, comfortable furnishings, and the striking double-sided stone fireplace create the feeling of a true Northern Arizona cabin retreat.

• Part of the charm of Heartstone Retreat is its peaceful tucked-away setting. The final approximately 3/4 mile to the home is along a rural gravel road with a few narrower one-lane areas, so we recommend slowing down, especially after dark, and enjoying the quieter pace of Verde Valley living.
