We stayed in Rome after two weeks of travel with my elderly, handicapped aunt. We specifically chose this listing for the balcony—so she could enjoy the outdoors since she can’t walk more than 20 feet—and for the washing machine, which we needed to refresh our clothes for the second half of our trip.Unfortunately, the apartment we originally booked was mistakenly double-booked and unavailable upon our arrival. Alex was apologetic and offered us a different unit in the same building. Because of this, I can’t speak to whether the photos match the apartment I had booked, since I never saw it.The alternate apartment had a broken, very musty washing machine. Leaving the lid open caused the whole place to smell unpleasant. This was disappointing, as it was one of the main reasons we chose the listing.Alex was responsive and accommodating when I reached out for missing essentials like coffee and toilet paper, and we were grateful a backup apartment was available at all. However, it was not well-suited for my aunt’s needs. The shower was too small for her to use safely, and the overall layout was difficult for her to navigate. That said, the apartment had beautiful, large windows and very comfortable beds. The building itself has a small, musty-smelling lift, and the front door is quite heavy—too much for my aunt to open on her own.The location is fantastic. I was able to walk to almost every major tourist attraction in a single morning.
