Winnie’s Cabin is full of charming and thoughtful details. The style of the cabin is more updated and slightly modern with some rustic- and farmhouse-style touches. Friendly bears greeted us at several points, a touch my daughter and I really appreciated. The furniture is comfortable, including the bean bag style lounger in the living room, and there are extras everywhere - extra linens, extra dishes, extra glassware, extra silverware, extra blankets, extra pillows, even an extra roll-away bed. There are coolers for canned and bottled drinks in the buffet in the dining area, as well, if a party needs them. If you envision sitting on the deck and enjoying a mug of hot tea or coffee, hearty-sized mugs, an electric kettle, and a coffee maker are available in the kitchen. My husband had to work remotely during part of our stay, and he says the high speed wireless internet was very good.
The mountain view from the deck and bedroom windows was picturesque. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, while our children napped or played, just breathing in the fresh air and watching the birds.
Our guest contact, Laura, was very helpful. We had a couple of needs as soon as we arrived, and she contacted the housekeeper (who was also prompt) to make sure we had what we needed. On that note, the property has baby gates available. If you need them during your stay, I recommend letting the guest contact know before your arrival. Our family’s other recommendations are to bring your own ice for drinks and to watch for the occasional spider or giant black ant. Such creatures are always around in a wooded area.
Winnie’s Cabin was a lovely place to stay, and we recommend it for families or groups of friends seeking a quiet retreat in the Ruidoso area.
