One of the better choices
Compared to other hotels in Scarborough this one is a good choice. A friendly and professional welcome, a nice view, a large room. The downsides are the room is directly situated above the bar & garden which has customers drinking, laughing and yelling till midnight. Food is ok, but not great. The friendly receptionist is also a very good escalation manager and took the parking fee off the bill to make up for the noise.

Needs an upgrade
The public areas of the hotel were in good condition however the single room I booked was in need of renovation. The bathroom and room was old and tired, the furniture was on the old side. Enjoyed the complimentary tea.

Not very impressive hotel. Rooms are small and old. All over a fluffy carpet. Strange pink light in the bathroom! Breakfast great!

Untere Mittelklasse, dennoch das „Beste“ vor Ort!
Sehr schöne Lage direkt an der Steilküste und tollem Blick aufs Meer. Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen und hat sehr viele Zimmer. Die nach hinten sind nicht so schön. Auch sind viele Zimmer recht alt. Frühstück ist ok, typisch englisch. Parken hinter dem Hotel gegen Bezahlung. Gute Bar.

Nice old hotel from the outside. But inside rather old and very much used. Rooms are ok by size. Bathroom needs refurbishment. Breakfast is very limited. Only one sort of cheese and sausage, toast and scrambled eggs. But a lot of cereals. This is not what I would expect from a hotel like this. At least the coffee are very good. Not like the instant orange “juice” from a dispenser. Enough parking space.

We have been going here for many years , it is always excellent. The breakfast seems less varied than it used to be but is still excellent. The room was very good overall but was incredibly warm at night, too warm to sleep easily - could really do with some sort of air conditioning as it was really hard to sleep even with the windows open. The staff are really good though, and overall the hotel is really nice. We arrived late just as the restaurant was shutting but we did have a bar meal instead. The views from the sea view rooms are stunning.

Enjoyed the spa, particularly the huge jacuzzi! Bar area was nice for a drink before going out. The only down side was that the room was very hot. There’s no way to control the heating. There’s a ceiling fan which is quite effective, but it was like an oven and windows could only open a crack to let in air. But it’s nicely situated in the cliff with great views across the sea from the front of the hotel.

Amazing 10/10 can’t wait to stay again! The hotel is beautiful and rustic our room was stunning with purple LED lighting for a nice calming evening vibe! Breakfast was unreal! Extremely accommodating with my partner not liking mushrooms or tomatoes and substituting him with extra of things he did like! Which I found extremely generous. Pool is a nice size for a couple and the jacuzzi is the largest I’ve been in lighting again was outstanding and the statues are beautiful! The sauna, steam room and ice room were a lovely size! Reception and staff were by far the most outstanding I’ve ever encountered answering every stupid question we both had with a friendly smile and always accommodating our request. The hotel is 15 min walk to the beach and a 10 minute drive away from the sea life centre which we utilised on our stay and made such a lovely evening! Thank you crown spa hotel! Xxx

The decor of the hotel and facilities where extremely good. They seemed to have problems with the service at breakfast, extremely slow. The room very spacious and clean. We did have a problem with the ceiling fan and light of not being able to turn them off. We reported it but they were unable deal during our stay.

A hard review to write as we enjoyed our stay here, but the hotel is very dated now. We found the spa facilities very dated, but strangely unique and retro? The staff were fantastic, especially Ashley in the restaurant. The evening meal was lovely and the breakfast was good too. Our view was lovely from the room, but again, the room was dated. Could be so much more. The window opened very slightly, but the room was soooo hot! The bathroom was nice and the ambiance lighting was a nice touch. Only a rain head shower though so I had to have a bath in the morning as otherwise my hair would have to be washed. Not a massive thing I know, but normally there is a choice of shower heads so that if you don't want to get your hair wet, you don't have to. I was surprised there were no robes and slippers in the room for a spa hotel, but then saw you have to request them. That was when we were leaving. Should really be in the room for a spa hotel. Overall, the hotel is a typical dated seafront hotel. I wouldn't class it as a spa hotel. We did have a lovely time though and the staff definitely make the stay.

We got a lovely double room with a sea view it was amazing for the £110 with breafast included and the use of the spa. The bathroom had mood lights which was really relaxing. The staff were friendly, check in was quick. We didn't have any problems so not sure how they will have been dealt with if we had. Breakfast was nice and there was a good choice, I had abit of everything. Yes the hotel is a little tiered but it was built in 1844!! The windows were a little dirty but so are mine at home at this time of year. For the money its an absolute bargin. We found a fabulous restaurant called Licorella not far from the hotel and this made our stay complete. We had a fabulous weekend it was definitely worth the money and we will go again.

I paid 170 pound for one night for a room With a tv in bathroom the tv didn’t work just kept saying no signal the toilet didn’t flush correctly and let off an awful smell of drainage in the room. I must admit tho the spa is lovely i did enjoy that I am just really disappointed with the room to say how much it cost me.

Awful - never again
I won’t be back, ever. I stay for work in the area fairly often and this is by far the worst hotel. The room was absolutely filthy. Thick dust on the bathroom shelves, lipstick on the mugs, food / debris all over the carpet, clear plastic remote controller cover had sticky brown chocolate finger marks on it. Gym was filthy too thick dust around all weights area, mirror with splash marks all over. I even heard staff telling their manager the cleaning was finished. I would say the service was hit and miss. Checking in was amazing service, super friendly staff, efficient. However check out was awful, 2 staff in the back chatting for over 10mins whilst I waited to then be greeted by, ‘ye’. I’d always stay at the bike and boot around the corner instead.

Booked executive double sea view room executive just means 3 red light bulbs and built in tv in bathroom top of fridge was covered in dust and huge cobweb in corner ceiling fan didnt work the electric plug in fan was so loud like sleeping with a truck in room but was so hot we didnt even turn duvet down just tried to sleep on top staff were nice and food was good but dont think will be going back .

Avoid this hotel at all costs
Probably the worse hotel I have stayed at ever, room had not been cleaned from the previous guest and took over two and half hours before it was ready after first reporting it to reception. Even then all they was change the sheets and removed the dirty towels from the bathroom. No effort made to actually clean the room, bathroom has dirty sink, hairs on the toilet and dust everywhere in the room. No apologies and rude staff. Manager was too busy serving guests in the resturant to discuss it with me.

Disappointing Stay
Breakfast on our first day was tasteless. The room looked like it had been ransacked, no juices, no fruit, dirty pots all over tables. Our room was very uncomfortable and very hot (even with the window open). In general the hotel looks very tired, as did the staff. Clearly they’re understaffed, as most were regularly complaining. Luxury is NOT a word I’d use to describe this hotel, overpriced would be the word.

We've been a few times, the spa facilities are a big draw especially in winter. The staff are friendly and the hotel is warm and welcoming. For what we paid it was excellent value for money.

Hotel position - good Financial administration- absolute rubbish. I spent a great deal of MY time resolving issues which the hotel made. I've been home 5 days and I'm still awaiting a credit to my credit card!!!

We really enjoyed our stay here...it was very relaxing and the staff were so lovely. The only reason I didn't give it five stars for staff and service was because when we left the hotel, £30 was taken out of our bank account for the dressing gowns that we returned! When I phoned the hotel to explain this, the reception manager I spoke to didn't seem to believe me and didn't apologise for the mistake! I did get my money back though! The reason I gave Cleanliness four stars is because I noticed a locker key and used plaster at the far end of the pool and they remained there all weekend! The breakfast was lovely although there wasn't much left in the buffet on our last morning! We were fine though and I feel sure we would have been accommodated if we needed anything that wasn't there...the staff were lovely. On the whole, we loved our stay, would recommend it and would definitely stay here again. It was definitely a bonus being able to use the spa facilities and made the stay excellent value for money.

Lovely Hotel
The hotel is wonderful, very nice rooms and very clean. The staff are all very friendly and the food in the restaurant was amazing. A great location very close to the sea front, would certainly recommend.
