  • Welcome to Seabbatical, a warm and inviting West Meadow retreat designed to connect you with the natural beauty of The Sea Ranch. Just steps from the Bluff Trail and within easy walking distance of beaches, the Sea Ranch Lodge, and the Marine Preserve, this cozy two-bedroom home offers a peaceful setting for slowing down, reconnecting, and enjoying the coast.

    Start your morning with coffee on the covered deck, spend the day hiking along the bluff or exploring nearby beaches and tide pools, then return home to soak in the private hot tub while taking in partial ocean views and star-filled skies. Inside, skylights and large windows fill the home with natural light while framing views of the surrounding forest, meadow, and sky. With a gas fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, private office workspace, and EV charging, Seabbatical is designed for both relaxing getaways and comfortable extended stays.

    Recreation Passes:
    Per The Sea Ranch Association rules, we provide 2 recreation passes per rental. Each pass can accommodate up to 6 people when fully completed. If you need additional passes beyond the 2 provided, day passes are available for $5 per person, per day at the pool kiosk or the Sea Ranch Association office.

    Drones are strictly prohibited in The Sea Ranch.
    Quiet hours must be observed between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM every day.
    No outdoor amplified sound is allowed at any time, day or night.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A very comfortable house with great beds and the best hot tub and artwork I have experienced yet at a Sea Ranch home. Word to the wise: It had plenty of coffee filters in the pantry, so no need to buy them in Gualala!

Perfect week in Seabbatical

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed in Seabbatical for about a week, which covered the full spectrum of extremely rainy to sunny weather. (One little roof leak was ongoing in one of the bedrooms and will likely be repaired soon.) The house was cozy and came fully equipped for us to wait out the bad weather with a mostly stocked kitchen, great TV setup, puzzles and board games, etc. When the weather brightened up, the house's location proved ideally situated for easy walking access to trails. We especially enjoyed the house's outdoor hot tub after a couple of long walks! Seabbatical is also very close to the 1, so just a short drive to other beaches, the Sea Ranch eateries, and more trails.

This is a lovely little (just right for two or three)cozy, and well designed cottage. Close to trail, VERY quiet and very comfortable. Very clean and appears to be brand new. Loved the unusual shower and appreciated the lighting design in the whole house. The simple, efficient decor contribute to a relaxing , peaceful stay.

Can I Live Here Forever?

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Over 25 years of renting at Sea Ranch we've stayed in a lot of houses and this one might be the best one we've had. Lots of reasons, but mostly because the owner/host has thought of everything and skimped on nothing. The house feels like it belongs to a person who really wants you to enjoy your stay, not to a rental company or an investment company. The light in this house is lovely -- I could paint anywhere, any time. The beds were super comfy, the dining table was huge -- you could eat at one end and do a puzzle at the other. Best of all is the back deck which is COVERED. Too many times at Sea Ranch there has been no shade on the deck and the sun's intensity can drive you inside. Here we could sit in the sun and have a glass of wine or bundle up under the roof and watch the rain -- both of which we did. The location is super quiet; close to the trail and the shore. The appliances were very new and very high-end -- another treat. Loved the gas fireplace and cute corner sofa in the window. I would stay here again in a hot minute!
