Our purpose for renting a home in Seattle was to have a comfortable place to stay with my parents (age 78 and 80) while visiting our son who lives in Greenlake. Originally, I was excited to have a house with a view overlooking Lake Washington. That aspect of the property was as shown. Very beautiful. There is a nice table and 4 chairs out back. No grill, fire pit, or benches. The backyard grass is turf. Very nice artificial grass though. Neighbors are close, but lots of privacy with fencing and landscape.
The home itself has great windows looking outside on the master suite side and backyard. The other side of the house is not as bright and open feeling. The house is a bit dated in its decor and furnishings. The second bedroom is as small as it looks online. The playroom was not very useful for us. The small couch in that room appears to be a sleeper sofa. The house does not seem to be newly renovated as advertised, but maybe the wear and tear has been extreme as a rental. The cabinet doors in the kitchen still swing open, the master shower door won’t close, insufficient towels and washcloths…all previously mentioned in a May 2022 review, followed by assurances these would rectified. There were several missing light bulbs in various locations and a flashing fluorescent bulb in the kitchen (annoying). We didn’t use much in the kitchen so I can’t say whether the appliances work well or if it is well stocked.
My biggest disappointment in this house was the feeling of “grunge”. Many drawers and cabinets had a sticky, dirty feel. There was visible uncleanliness in some areas, no washcloths, 2 hand towels, and maybe four or five bath towels. We tried reaching out for help with this, but there was a lack of response from the property management team at Vacasa. There were many cobwebs, dead bugs in the lights above the dining table, some gross goo in the overhead light in the second bedroom. The bathroom off of this bedroom had multiple areas of various splatters…wall, ceiling, cabinet. Hair and other debris was in the bathroom drawers. All of this made us question the cleanliness of the entire house. The duvets on the beds had spots, couches and carpets had spots as well.
We could not get the cable to work on the TV’s and again no help from Vacasa. Finally, the day before we left, someone did drop off extra washcloths and towels.
I was looking for a comfortable place to rest, but all of these hurdles made it a very uncomfortable stay.
