The setting is gorgeous and quiet, and the listing is not kidding about the drive. The road is extremely steep; a true 4WD is a must in any weather. The living room furniture is comfortable and the cabin itself is fine for a simple stay, but a number of details made it less enjoyable than expected.The bedroom needs attention: the mattress sags noticeably in the middle, one bedside lamp is half-assembled and dangling by a wire, and the closet is locked so there is nowhere to stash a larger suitcase except the floor. The bed had only a light blanket (no comforter as pictured). Lighting is limited throughout the cabin and it is quite dark at night even with every switch on.Bathrooms and water: no hair dryer, the only shower is upstairs and has no light over the tub so you are showering in the dark, and the downstairs toilet had black staining around the rim. Hot water runs lukewarm unless no cold is mixed, and the kitchen hot water has very low flow.Amenities: the arcade machine’s second joystick does not work and the plug is easy to kick loose, the grill requires a timer to activate (not explained; we had to call), and the kitchen is stocked with almost no basics beyond paper towels and coffee filters—plan to bring everything.We loved the mountain setting and fall colors beginning to change, but hikers should know there is not really a place to set off on trails from the cabin. With some fixes and clearer pre-arrival information, this could be a great stay.
